Role Summary
Reporting to the Head of Investment Strategy, the Investment Performance Analyst is responsible for quantifying investment performance across National Life’s investment portfolio. In this role, the individual will partner with the Head of Investment Strategy and other key NL Capital stakeholders to develop a performance evaluation framework that spans the entirety of our investment process. Key to this role will be developing the ability to calculate performance through a lens that is relevant to NL Capital as an insurance investment manager. A strong understanding of performance is paramount to the successful management of National Life’s investment portfolio. As such, performance measurement plays a key role in NL Capital’s investment process.
This position currently offers an onsite work schedule, with the expectation that you are in the office four (4) days per week during onsite core days. Our current onsite core days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The work schedule type and core days are subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Insurance specific investment performance expert.
- Works closely with Investment Strategy Team and broader Investment Team to ensure that performance is objectively calculated, and that drivers of relative and absolute performance are well understood.
- Calculates performance across the entirety of NL Capital’s investment portfolio on a periodic basis.
- Identifies relevant benchmarks and absolute return measures to appropriately frame performance.
- Works closely with Investment Risk professionals to understand drivers of performance deviations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-7 years of experience in a similar role, and/or MBA
- Experience with insurance general account investing
- Experience evaluating insurance investment portfolio performance.
- Strong quantitative skills and understanding of performance calculation methodologies.
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to connect to form meaningful working partnerships
- Strong understanding of the asset management industry and capital markets, particularly in fixed income

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.
Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life’s discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Salary Pay Range
$65,025 - $91,800 USD
