POSITION SUMMARY:
The National Life Group Internship Program was developed to provide real workplace learning and growth opportunities for undergraduate students. Over the years the program has provided students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful, career-relevant work at National Life Group in preparation for full-time employment.
This position currently offers an onsite work schedule, with the expectation that you are in the office four (4) days per week during onsite core days. Our current onsite core days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The work schedule type and core days are subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
National Life Group is seeking a creative, collaborative and digitally savvy Social Media Intern to join our Digital Marketing team. This role will support the Social Media team in developing engaging, on-brand content for National Life Group’s social channels, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
The Social Media Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to real campaigns and communications while gaining hands-on experience in social media marketing within a highly collaborative organization. A significant focus of the role will be graphic design and visual content creation, using tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications to bring ideas to life across social platforms.
The ideal candidate is visually creative, interested in social media and digital trends, comfortable managing multiple projects, and excited to collaborate with teams across the organization.
Create Social Media Content
- Design engaging social media graphics and visual assets using Canva, Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
- Support the creation of content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, adapting creative to the needs and best practices of each platform.
- Assist with short-form video, motion graphics, carousels, static graphics and other social-first creative.
- Help translate campaign concepts, business priorities and communications needs into compelling social content.
- Apply National Life Group brand standards consistently across social creative.
Support Campaigns and Communications
- Partner with the Social Media team to develop content for integrated marketing campaigns, product initiatives, corporate communications, recruiting, community engagement, events and other organizational priorities.
- Help turn larger campaigns and communications into platform-specific social content that is clear, engaging and relevant to each audience.
- Assist with brainstorming creative concepts, visual directions, copy ideas and new ways to tell National Life Group stories on social media.
- Support both planned editorial content and timely requests from teams across the organization.
Collaborate Across National Life Group
- Work with teams across Marketing and the broader organization to understand their goals and help translate their needs into effective social media content.
- Collaborate with designers, writers, marketers, communications professionals and subject matter experts to develop and refine creative.
- Respond to incoming social media requests and help move projects from initial idea through development, review and publication.
- Participate in team brainstorms, campaign discussions and creative reviews.
Stay Current on Social
- Follow emerging social media trends, platform updates, creative formats and audience behaviors.
- Bring forward ideas for how National Life Group can thoughtfully participate in relevant trends while remaining true to its brand.
- Identify inspiration and examples of effective social content from brands, creators and organizations across industries.
- Help the team explore new creative approaches, particularly for short-form video and visually driven content.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Advertising or a related field.
- Strong interest in social media, digital marketing and visual storytelling.
- Experience with Canva and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and/or other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn and an understanding of how content and audiences differ across platforms.
- Strong visual instincts and an eye for typography, composition, imagery and brand consistency.
- Interest in short-form video creation and editing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take direction and feedback while also bringing new ideas to the table.
- Organized, responsive and comfortable balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work with people across different teams and areas of the organization.
- Curiosity, creativity and a desire to learn.

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.
Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life’s discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$19 - $28 USD
