Data Processing Manager - Aerial Imagery

Europe - Remote

At Near Space Labs we design, build and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Processing Manager to oversee the efficient and accurate processing of our data. This role demands a strong, organized leader to maintain data integrity, analyze processing performance for insights, and drive efficient operations. While deep technical skills aren't key, experience managing data workflows, analyzing data, and communicating effectively across teams is highly valued.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee Flight Data Processing: Meticulously track and manage the entire aerial imagery processing pipeline, ensuring timely progression through each stage and accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Coordinate Review & Quality Control: Effectively assign and oversee the work of imagery reviewers, ensuring adherence to internal quality standards and the consistent delivery of high-quality data.
  • Manage Workflow & Team Operations: Optimize task assignment within the review team, streamline overall processing workflows, and proactively identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Cross-Team Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all data processing-related issues, collaborating closely with technical, operational, and quality assurance teams to facilitate  effective problem resolution.
  • Analyze Performance & Provide Feedback: Diligently track key processing statistics, identify potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement, and implement data-driven solutions to increase overall efficiency.

  • Familiarity in using workflow management tools such as Airtable or similar platforms for effective task tracking and team collaboration.
  • Ability to review processing performance metrics, identify trends, and suggest data-informed improvements to existing workflows.
  • Geospatial/Remote Sensing Experience (nite to have): Familiarity with aerial imagery, mapping principles, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is advantageous but not a prerequisite.
