Director of Marketing

Brooklyn, New York

About Us

We are a growth-stage technology company at the forefront of geospatial imaging. We provide high-fidelity, actionable spatial data and analytics that empower our clients to make critical, real-world decisions. As we scale our market presence, we are looking for driven, agile professionals to help us build the foundation for exponential revenue growth.

Near Space Labs operates the world's largest stratospheric imaging and data capture platform. We launch our proprietary, autonomous vehicles robots to altitudes between 60,000 and 100,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of high-resolution aerial imagery and data to support business, community, and climate resilience.

The Role

We are seeking a Director of Marketing to serve as the central engine of our marketing organization. In this high-impact role, you will operate as an elite solo marketer with the strategic acumen to partner with both internal stakeholders and external agencies to drive successful outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity designed for a builder who will own the strategy, establish the systems, and drive execution from the ground up.

You will spearhead modern B2B digital marketing initiatives to accelerate top-of-funnel pipeline and lead product marketing across diverse verticals: Insurance, State & Local Government, Energy & Utilities, MapTech, Forestry & Environment, Roofing & Home Services, and Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC). As a vital partner to Sales, Product, and the Executive team, you must demonstrate exceptional adaptability and a startup mentality — navigating context switching with ease.

Reporting to: Chief Revenue Officer (CRO)
Location: Hybrid in Brooklyn, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Demand Generation & Top-of-Funnel: Own digital marketing strategy to drive qualified pipeline: paid, SEO/content, email, and ABM. Build scalable programs that generate awareness and inbound interest across our target verticals — insurance, utilities, infrastructure, and beyond.
  • Product Marketing & Sales Enablement: Develop and maintain messaging frameworks, positioning, and collateral tailored to multiple distinct buyer personas and use cases. Partner with Product and Sales to translate complex geospatial technology into stories that close deals and expand accounts — including vertical-specific decks, one-pagers, battlecards, and ROI narratives.
  • Brand & Thought Leadership: Shape the Near Space Labs brand across owned and earned channels. Define our voice, narrative, and visual identity. Build a robust thought leadership program — including bylined articles, speaking opportunities, and executive content — that positions Near Space Labs as the definitive voice in stratospheric intelligence. Oversee the broader content calendar: case studies, technical explainers, and industry commentary, working with agencies or freelancers to execute at scale.
  • Agency & Vendor Management: Identify, brief, and manage external agencies and contractors for execution support across design, paid media, content, PR, and events — maintaining quality and staying on budget.
  • Events & Field Marketing: Own conference strategy and field presence in the industries that matter to us, where in-person relationships remain a meaningful part of the sales process.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of B2B enterprise experience in geospatial services, deeptech, data platform, or complex technology sales as a high-performing individual contributor.
  • Track Record: Proven track record as a solo or near-solo marketing function
  • Industry Knowledge: Prior experience marketing to enterprise technical buyers in Insurance, State & Local Government, Utilities, or AEC.
  • B2B Product Marketing: Ability to get into the details and help craft messaging that speaks to decision makers across different industries and use cases.
  • CRM & Digital Marketing: Hands-on experience with modern B2B CRM and digital marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo, Braze, or similar)
  • AI Proficiency: Fluency with AI tools and the ability to integrate them into day-to-day marketing workflows, including campaign optimization and performance analysis
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent marketing at the leadership level
  • Startup Mentality: Highly adaptable, entrepreneurial, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You are a builder who doesn't wait for a playbook; you write it.

What We Offer

  • The unique opportunity to market a category-defining, AI-ready solution across multiple industries and use cases.
  • An exciting startup culture where you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in building and scaling a one-of-a-kind technology in direct partnership with the founding/executive team.
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace where we welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $130,000 - $150,000.
  • Flexible PTO.
  • 401k plan with company match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Opportunity for equity.
  • Training and development, as well as opportunities to grow within the organization.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
