Associate, Cross Product – Risk Retention

THE OPPORTUNITY

Nearwater's Risk Retention business provides asset-backed securitization sponsors (ABS, CLO, CMBS, RMBS) with financing for their retained risk retention interests, in compliance with Dodd-Frank and EU/UK Securitization Regulation requirements. As a Cross Product Associate, you will support origination and portfolio management across multiple asset classes and transaction types, working directly with senior originators and the Head of Risk Retention on live deal flow from initial screening through close and ongoing monitoring.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Deal Origination & Structuring

  • Support the Risk Retention team in executing financing transactions across multiple securitization asset classes, including ABS, CLO, CMBS, and RMBS
  • Review deal offering documents and legal documentation, and coordinate operational settlement
  • Build cash flow models to evaluate financing terms and structural features for client review
  • Prepare marketing materials and presentation decks for meetings with global investment and PE firms, managers, and sponsors
  • Draft term sheets, structuring memos, and investment committee materials

Portfolio & Relationship Management

  • Monitor the securitization market and provide timely insights to the team
  • Participate in client discussions to support the origination process and ongoing client coverage
  • Liaise with legal and operations teams to deliver a smooth execution experience

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • 2–6 years of experience in structured finance and/or securitized products
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including cash flow waterfalls and collateral analysis
  • Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of securitization structures and risk retention concepts (Dodd-Frank, EU/UK Securitization Regulation)
  • Excellent written communication for structuring memos and committee materials

Preferred

  • Exposure to multiple asset classes (ABS, CLO, CMBS, RMBS)
