Neighbors Bank is seeking an analytical, solutions-oriented Accountant to play a vital role in financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning. This hybrid position allows for remote work but also requires commuting to our Columbia, MO office as needed.

What You’ll Do

As an Accountant, you’ll collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors, and senior leaders to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, provide key insights to drive decision-making, and earn $80,000-$100,000 annually. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Oversight & Reporting – Maintain the general ledger, oversee monthly and annual financial statements, and ensure timely reporting to leadership.
  • Risk & Asset Management – Partner with leadership to analyze liabilities, investments, capital structure, liquidity, and hedging strategies.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Support – Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for financial functions, including tax planning and reporting.
  • Forecasting & Strategy – Assist in developing financial forecasts and providing key insights to support company growth.
  • Audits & Examinations – Prepare for and participate in financial audits, regulatory exams, and internal reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational integrity.
  • Special Projects – Contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen financial operations and efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of accounting experience (more preferred).
  • Strong grasp of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficient in basic computer technologies, appropriate for an internet-based company.
  • Ability to work in-office as needed (must live within 90 minutes of Columbia, MO).
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
