Quality Engineer

Manchester, Connecticut, United States

Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can’t keep up. At Neon Aero, we’re breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.

Here, you won’t just take a job — you’ll help reinvent how the world flies. If you’re ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.

Join our organization as a Quality Engineer and play a critical role in supporting shop floor production in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment. In this role, you will serve as the primary quality interface to manufacturing operations, working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering to ensure products and processes meet the highest standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

You will be at the center of real-time production support, helping drive product and process quality while ensuring robust quality systems are in place and consistently followed. This role is especially important in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, where you will evaluate non-conforming material, support proper disposition, and lead efforts to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Success in this role requires sound technical judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work across teams to solve quality challenges efficiently and effectively.

Why This Role Matters

  • Provide hands-on, day-to-day quality engineering support directly to manufacturing operations
  • Help ensure products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and defined quality standards
  • Support production readiness and execution to achieve safety, quality, and delivery goals
  • Identify, escalate, and help resolve quality risks that could impact production performance
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure manufacturing processes are capable, controlled, and compliant
  • Serve as a key Quality Engineering representative in MRB activities
  • Evaluate non-conforming material and help drive timely, compliant disposition decisions
  • Ensure documentation, traceability, and quality compliance are maintained throughout the disposition process
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve non-conformances and prevent recurrence
  • Lead and support root cause and corrective action efforts for recurring quality issues
  • Develop and maintain quality plans, control plans, and inspection strategies that strengthen production quality
  • Support First Article Inspection activities, including review and approval of FAIRs to AS9102 standards
  • Define practical inspection and verification methods, including metrology and tooling requirements
  • Support supplier quality efforts through audits, assessments, and corrective action follow-through
  • Perform product, process, and QMS audits to ensure compliance with AS9100 and other regulatory or customer requirements
  • Use quality data and trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities and reduce process variation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen capability, consistency, and overall performance
  • Help standardize quality practices and support training that enables operational excellence

What you’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field; relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Strong understanding of aerospace or regulated industry quality standards (AS9100, AS9102)
  • Experience supporting shop floor production and resolving real-time quality issues
  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T in inspection and validation
  • Experience with inspection planning and metrology tools (CMM, laser trackers, etc.)
  • Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive decisions and improvements
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage at all levels of the organization

Why Join Us

  • Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
  • Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard.
  • Shape solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable — the future of aviation.
  • Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and full heath benefits (health, vision, dental, 401K) designed to support you in and out of work.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
