Aerospace Verification Engineer
Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can’t keep up. At Neon Aero, we’re breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.
Here, you won’t just take a job — you’ll help reinvent how the world flies. If you’re ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.
We are seeking an Aerospace Verification Engineer to own the technical architecture, build-out, and operation of the HIL environments used to verify Neon Aero's flight-critical actuator control software. This is a Staff-level individual contributor role for an engineer who can set technical direction across the company through their own work and influence, and who is equally comfortable writing architecture documents and debugging timing on a real-time target.
Why This Role Matters
In this role, you will build the environment that generates certification credit evidence for Neon Aero's flight-critical software. Your architecture, tooling, and rigor will directly determine whether that evidence is traceable, repeatable, configuration controlled, and defensible in front of a DER or certification authority.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems architecture, hands-on lab work, and certification rigor.
What you’ll Bring
- 10+ years in embedded or aerospace systems, including at least 5 years designing or leading HIL or systems integration lab environments.
- Direct experience with DO-178C verification objectives and producing evidence that has passed certification authority or DER review.
- Hands-on experience with at least one real-time test platform and its Python or scripting API.
- Strong Python skills, including designing frameworks and APIs used by other engineers.
- Understanding of motor control fundamentals sufficient to specify and validate a real-time motor model.
- Clear technical writing and the ability to drive technical decisions across teams without formal authority.
- Experience with dual-processor architectures, FPGA-based signal emulation, or flight control actuation preferred.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment.
- Occasional travel to vendor sites, test facilities, and partner locations.
- Hands-on lab work alongside architecture and documentation responsibilities.
- Role may involve regulated, export-controlled, or classified environments.
Why Join Us
- Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators across aerospace and technology.
- Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard and shaping solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable.
- Help deliver the future of aviation while building your career in an environment that values ownership, innovation, and meaningful impact.
- Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits, helps support you in and out of work.
This is the expected compensation range for this role. Final compensation will be based on role scope, experience, skills, internal equity and location. This role may also be eligible for bonus/equity/benefits, if applicable.
