Cell Model Research Associate

Position Summary

This position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team on cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of cell biology, genome engineering and single-cell multiomics. The primary responsibility will be the generation and maintenance of novel cell lines across different therapeutic areas. In addition, other responsibilities include a variety of techniques such as, molecular biology, Next Generation Sequencing library preparation, and flow cytometry. The role will expose the successful candidate to a wide range of wet-lab techniques and will foster their growth through close collaborations with PhD-level scientists. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player and a diligent experimental biologist who can thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cell culture, both generation of novel cells lines in addition to maintaining ongoing cells lines
  • Molecular cloning and testing of constructs for genome engineering
  • Assisting with large scale bulk and single-cell screening
  • Assisting with target validation experiments 
  • Maintaining key instruments
  • Keeping a detailed record of experimental procedures and results
  • Placing orders and maintaining key inventory

Qualification and Education Requirements

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of full-time wet lab experience in industry
  • Strong demonstrated proficiency with mammalian cell culture
  • Experience with primary iPSCs or organoid models
  • Expertise with standard molecular and cell biology techniques (plasmid design, cloning, PCR)
  • Willingness to quickly discover and learn new methods and approaches
  • Ability to adjust rapidly to shifting priorities and deliver high-quality, detail-oriented results in a timely manner
  • Teamwork and collaborative attitude are essential
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Critical thinker with excellent communication skills who thrives in a multidisciplinary fast-paced team environment

Additional preferred experience includes:

  • Experience with CRISPR-Cas systems, gene editing and delivery technologies
  • Experience with CRISPR screening
  • Experience with Single-cell Biology (i.e. 10x Genomics or scRNA-seq) and Next Generation Sequencing library preparation

  • Research Associate II: $82,000-$90,000
  • Senior Research Associate: $100,000-$115,000
