Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer
Triton Medical Robotics, a division of Neptune Medical, is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. We have already commercialized novel medical devices using our technology. Now the team at Triton is building something truly unique: a fully flexible medical robot that enables doctors to reach deep into human anatomy. Our robot will disrupt flexible endoscopy and set a new standard in outcomes for decades to come.
TITLE: Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Triton Robotics is seeking a highly motivated individual to craft solutions for complex robotic systems that will transform patient care and improve the lives of millions worldwide. As a Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer on the Triton hardware team, you will be responsible for electronics design, bring-up, and integration of robotic hardware including motion control, sensor interfaces, computing and power distribution to meet the clinical needs of the system. You’ll be responsible for ensuring risks are appropriately mitigated and designs are documented in accordance with best design practices and regulatory demands. This is a highly hands-on role that is critical to the success of the product.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 5-9 years electrical design and bring-up experience in robotics or a similar field. You’ll be self-driven and highly motivated to work hands on with a diverse team, to tackle challenges without known solutions, and motivated to drive harder when the solution isn’t obvious.
WHAT YOU WILL DELIVER:
- Develop electrical systems based on system needs & constraints, regulatory guidance, and safety analysis.
- Work closely with cross functional teammates to define design constraints and develop optimal solutions to complex problems.
- Perform schematic and layout design of medium to high complexity analog and digital printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Rapidly iterate and debug designs based on test data.
- Hands on debug and bring-up of PCBs in isolation and within a complex system.
- Own full lifecycle designs of PCBs including design, simulation, technical reviews, detailed test, documentation, and product release.
- Work closely with PCA vendors and other contractors to develop robust and reliable electrical solutions.
- Design, analysis, and drawing release of interconnect cabling.
- Drive dFMEA analysis of electrical systems and participate in cross-functional dFMEA analysis.
WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS YOU BRING:
- Minimum of B.S. in computer science, electrical engineering or similar (M.S. preferred).
- At least 5-9 years of work experience including schematic and layout design of medium to high complexity digital and analog flexible and rigid PCBs.
- Experience working with suppliers to resolve process issues and understand supplier design constraints.
- Proven experience designing with ESD, EMI, immunity, and thermal considerations.
- Proven experience designing and developing electronic circuits from feasibility through product release.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency using Altium Designer and controlled repositories such as GIT and SVN.
- Demonstrated ability to debug and test using high speed oscilloscopes and other test tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation of technical content.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE SOME OF:
- Experience in the medical device field including knowledge of techniques and compliance to standards like 60601-1 and isolation is preferred.
- Experience with architecture level design in complex systems is welcomed.
- Experience in motor bring-up and basic programming to facilitate board bring-up and test is desired.
- Experience developing medical devices, including design controls, patient risk analysis, risk mitigation and dFMEA practices.
Triton Robotics is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART station.
