Senior Software Test Engineer
Neptune Medical, is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. We have already commercialized novel medical devices using our technology. Now the team at Neptune is building something truly unique: a fully flexible medical robot that enables doctors to reach deep into human anatomy. TITLE: Senior Software Test Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Senior Software Test Engineer to own the testing of the able to contribute broadly across numerous aspects of the software ecosystem required for a complex medical robotic system.
The ideal candidate would act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below. For the right person, this position will be a tremendously exciting and career-defining opportunity, making core contributions to a genuinely new type of medical robotic platform.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for testing the software over a range of different robot configurations.
- Work with the software team and design and implement a software test plan and schedule.
- Write software test scripts as needed to help with test automation.
- Record software issues in Jira and help triage the issues with the software team.
- Get a deep understanding of the system to identify potential weaknesses in the system.
- Help with the software release process including testing and generating bug reports.
- Support with software verification activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or similar.
- 3-5 yrs of hands-on experience in software development or testing on a hardware centric software - robotic system preferred.
- Experience in writing code in C++ and Python on a Linux based system.
- Experience with writing test plans, bug tracking software (Jira) and bug triage process.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills including presentation of technical content.
- Willingness to work in a startup environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
- Eagerness to learn new things.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $140,000 and $170,000 depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity, benefits and 401(K) with matching.
