Director, Continuous Improvement
Nerdy is searching for a Director of Continuous Improvement to join our team, based out of our corporate office in St. Louis, Missouri.

As the Director of Continuous Improvement, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring our vertically integrated marketplace and platform and related operations for live learning run seamlessly, delivering exceptional experiences for learners worldwide. This role is about more than maintaining stability—it’s about proactively enhancing our systems, designing innovative upstream processes, and using data to drive decisions that sustain and elevate our performance over time.
Reporting to the Corporate Vice President & Controller in the Office of the CFO, you’ll blend a structured, methodical approach to process verification with a bold, continuous improvement mindset. You’ll work directly with our executive team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage technology, anticipate challenges, and implement solutions that make a real impact on our customers’ learning journeys. Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (required) in Accounting, Finance, Business, Operations, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (preferred) such as an MBA or Master’s in Operations Management, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven track record in process improvement, operational excellence, or a similar role, with a focus on proactive, tech-driven solutions.
- Process Mastery: Strong ability to design upstream processes that prevent failures and ensure long-term stability.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfort with interpreting complex data and translating it into actionable strategies.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision in managing intricate processes and ensuring flawless execution.
- Process Improvement Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with methodologies like Kaizen, Lean, or Six Sigma to guide process optimization.
- Tech Operations Experience (Preferred): Experience in technology-driven operations or marketplace environments, especially with software-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify risks, inefficiencies, or deviations in platform performance and propose upstream solutions—ideally software-based—to address them before they affect learners or business outcomes.
- Design or refine processes that maintain or improve key metrics, ensuring issues are caught early and performance remains strong over time.
- Conduct rigorous checks to verify that human-based processes align with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), implementing fixes through upstream improvements when needed.
- Use data to monitor workflows, assess performance, and drive strategic improvements that prevent degradation and enhance efficiency.
- Keep process documentation, checklists, and audit trails up-to-date to support accountability and continuous refinement.
- Set ambitious goals for operational excellence and pursue bold, creative solutions to achieve them.
