Overview:

Nerdy is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Director of Consumer Sales  to lead and scale our high-performing consumer sales organization. This role is central to driving revenue growth and customer acquisition across our portfolio of AI-powered learning products.

You’ll oversee multiple sales teams, coach and mentor sales managers, and lead execution against ambitious targets—while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and customer-first engagement. You’ll work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Operations, and Workforce Management to refine funnel strategy, drive conversion, and optimize team performance through tools, training, and AI-powered insights.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field (MBA or relevant advanced degree a plus).
  • 7+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, with at least 3 years managing large or multi-layered inside sales teams in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and exceeding quota across multiple product lines or market segments.
  • Deep experience with sales funnel optimization, including lead routing, objection handling, conversion testing, and team performance diagnostics.
  • Strong coaching and performance management skills; you know how to build high-trust, high-accountability teams.
  • Comfortable navigating sales forecasting, capacity planning, and resource allocation using BI tools (e.g., Looker).
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with experience briefing senior stakeholders and translating insights into action.
  • Passion for developing sales talent and scaling culture across distributed teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire Nerdy’s Consumer Sales team to meet and exceed performance targets across B2C learning membership products.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top-performing Sales Managers and frontline reps, fostering a culture of continuous learning, ownership, and accountability.
  • Monitor key sales KPIs (conversion rates, AHT, talk time, close rates, team productivity) and implement operational improvements in partnership with BI, Marketing, and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing (lead flow), Product (feature launches), and BI (data/analytics).
  • Partner with Workforce and BI teams to optimize staffing, coverage, and compliance with sales scripts and service standards.
  • Pilot new tools, talk tracks, and AI-enabled coaching workflows (e.g., call analysis, performance alerts) to drive rep efficiency and win rates.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly forecasting process with accurate pipeline reporting and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Represent Sales leadership in cross-functional strategy sessions and external-facing events as needed.
  • Contribute to AI-generated sales enablement content and learning resources, ensuring reps are equipped to sell with confidence and empathy.
