What you will be doing:
As an early Neros employee, you will get to help decide the direction of our future. The General Counsel will be responsible providing legal advice and support to the Neros team, focusing on areas ranging from contract review, export and regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and litigation. The GC will also play an integral role in management, ensuring the Nero’s complies with relevant laws and regulations. This will also include:
Lead Legal Strategy & Risk Management
- Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy aligned with long-term business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across all departments and operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison to external counsel on litigation, intellectual property, investigations, and other specialized matters.
Oversee Government & Defense Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) and export and compliance under ITAR and EAR.
- Establish and refine internal controls and training programs for employees handling controlled technical data or engaging in restricted activities.
- Lead audits, investigations, and disclosures related to government contracts and export control regulations.
Manage Contracts & Commercial Transactions
- Draft and negotiate complex agreements including defense procurement contracts, NDAs, and joint ventures.
- Establish and maintain standard terms and contract templates to accelerate business velocity while protecting the company’s interests.
- Collaborate with finance, sales, and operations teams to manage contractual risk and ensure compliance with terms and obligations.
You should have the following:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Bar or eligibility for in-house counsel registration.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience preferred.
- Proven experience as a General Counsel or in a senior legal leadership role.
- Strong knowledge across a broad range of legal areas, including corporate law, commercial contracts, ITAR and EAR regulatory compliance, employment law, and litigation management.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication both written and verbal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice that balances legal risks with business objectives.
- Experience technology, defense, or manufacturing is a plus.
US Salary Range
$ USD $175,000 - $255,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.
