Director of Marketing
Who we are
Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.
As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.
What you will be doing
Neros is seeking a Director of Marketing to define our brand, narrative, and creative direction as we rebuild America’s drone industrial base. You will shape how talent, warfighters, government partners, and suppliers perceive Neros—translating complex engineering and industrial achievements into a cohesive, high-impact story. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role responsible for both organization-wide creative execution and building the marketing organization.
- Brand Strategy & Creative Direction: Own Neros’ visual and verbal identity, developing a unified brand system that prioritizes aesthetics, speed, scale, and mission impact across all channels.
- Content Engine Construction: Lead the creation of high-quality content—written, visual, and multimedia—to support recruiting, product launches, BD materials, and mission storytelling.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, build, and manage a small, elite marketing team; establish operational processes and creative standards to scale the function.
- Creative Delegation: Govern content and narrative direction across website and social channels, ensuring consistent, high-quality brand expression.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate deeply with the CEO and interface directly with Government Affairs, Engineering, and Operations to ensure marketing materials are accurate, strategically aligned, and support real business outcomes.
You should have the following
- 6+ years experience in brand, marketing, or creative leadership roles.
-
- Optional (but not required) experience within hard-tech, aerospace, robotics, industrial, or defense-adjacent companies.
- Experience working in high-velocity environments (Series A-D startups) where resources are constrained and speed is critical.
- Proven “player-coach” ability—demonstrated hands-on creation of copy, campaigns, visual direction, video/photo briefs, and narrative architecture.
- Experience marketing physical products or industrial technology; must be comfortable translating hardware and manufacturing work into compelling content.
- Strong portfolio showcasing brand systems, talent-focused campaigns, and hardware storytelling.
- Experience building and managing small, elite creative teams and working in fast-paced, founder-driven environments.
- Ability to work closely with CEOs/founders in rapid iteration cycles; comfort with high-fidelity creative review.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with Engineering, BD, Gov Affairs, and Recruiting sub-organizations.
- Willingness to work in-person in El Segundo in a hardware-first, high-intensity environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in modern defense or hard-tech (Anduril, Varda, Hadrian, Boom, SpaceX/Tesla-like environments).
- Common creative tool proficiencies at a professional or near-professional level.
- Experience building employer brand engines for technical hiring.
- Familiarity with government program communications and DoW-facing messaging.
- Background in industrial design, visual arts, or technical writing.
