Senior RF Engineer II (Hardware)

Torrance, California, United States

Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

As a Senior RF Engineer II (Hardware), you will own the technical direction and final sign-off for RF hardware implementation across all Neros products involving wireless links. You will ensure link budgets, cascade analysis, spectral performance, subsystem-level requirements, and validation strategies are technically sound before programs move forward. You will serve as the company's deepest RF hardware technical resource for complex connectivity performance issues and guide responsible engineers across platforms as they implement and validate wireless systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own final technical sign-off for RF hardware implementations across Neros products involving wireless links
  • Review and approve link budgets, cascade analysis, spectral performance, and RF subsystem-level requirements
  • Set the technical direction for how responsible engineers implement, verify, validate, and production-test RF hardware systems
  • Use SystemVue, HFSS, ADS, MATLAB, Simulink, and related tools to model, simulate, and validate RF architectures
  • Drive root cause analysis for complex RF/connectivity performance issues including interference, desense, link margin, spectral compliance, and system-level coexistence
  • Propose, model, and validate RF architectural decisions, component selections, and implementation trade-offs across platforms
  • Provide deep technical guidance to responsible engineers and cross-functional teams so design proposals are technically sound before execution

You should have the following

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science (MSEE) or PhD highly preferred
  • 8+ years of professional experience in RF hardware design, RF systems engineering, or wireless product development
  • Expert-level ability to build, review, and defend link budgets, cascade analysis, receiver sensitivity analysis, spectral performance analysis, and RF subsystem requirements
  • Proven expertise using RF/system simulation tools such as SystemVue, HFSS, ADS, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar for architecture, PCB, antenna, fixture, and system-level analysis
  • Deep knowledge of RF hardware architecture, radio standards, antennas, component selection, filtering, gain planning, noise, linearity, and system-level trade-offs
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical authority or final design reviewer for complex RF hardware implementations
  • Strong understanding of verification, validation, production acceptance testing, DFM, and DFT

Nice to have

  • Advanced Degree: MS or PhD in EE with a focus on RF/microwaves, electromagnetics, communications, or a related field
  • SystemVue / ADS / HFSS Depth: extensive experience using these tools to make product architecture decisions, not just run isolated simulations
  • Antenna and Platform Integration: antenna integration, embedded wireless products, desense, coexistence, EMI/EMC, and mechanical/RF coupling
  • Production RF Experience: defining production RF acceptance tests, tuning strategy, yield monitoring, and manufacturing feedback loops
  • Technical Leadership: acting as final technical reviewer or principal engineer across multiple products, platforms, or programs

US Salary Range

225,000 - 315,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.

We’re an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
