Electrical Engineer III, Design Assurance

Torrance, California, United States

Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

As an Electrical Engineer III, Design Assurance at Neros, you will bring up, characterize, and validate the circuit boards that go into our next generation airside and groundside platforms. You will write and run test plans, contribute to worst-case circuit analysis from schematic through bench validation, and design the fixtures and automated test setups behind that work. You will work with design engineers during product development to get results back into the design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring up, characterize, and validate new circuit boards against requirements
  • Contribute to worst-case circuit analysis, from schematic-level calculations and simulation through post-layout checks and bench validation, feeding measured results back into the analysis
  • Write and execute test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Design and build test fixtures, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups, and automated test scripts
  • Run qualification and reliability testing, including thermal, vibration, and HALT/HASS, and support root-cause analysis on failures
  • Provide design-for-test (DFT) input to design engineers during product development

You should have the following:

  • 4+ years of experience in electrical hardware engineering, with hands-on bench validation of circuit boards
  • Board bring-up and characterization experience, including writing your own test plans and reports
  • Proficiency with bench instrumentation: oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, DMMs, and spectrum analyzers
  • Board-level design experience: schematics and PCBs you designed yourself. Test fixtures and test boards count
  • Circuit analysis across analog, digital, and power supply circuits, including hand calculations, tolerance analysis, and SPICE simulation (LTspice or similar)
  • Test automation and data analysis in Python or similar
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field

Nice to have:

  • Signal and power integrity simulation (HyperLynx, SIwave, or similar) and bench measurement (TDR, VNA, eye diagrams)
  • Hands-on WCCA and component derating on production hardware
  • Previous HALT/HASS, environmental, or EMC pre-compliance testing experience
  • Production test development with a contract manufacturer
  • Background in UAV, aerospace, automotive, defense, or medical device hardware
