Senior Electrical Engineer II, Design Assurance

Torrance, California, United States

Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, Design Assurance at Neros, you will validate the electronics that go into our next generation airside and groundside platforms. You will perform circuit analysis, bring up and characterize new hardware, run qualification testing, and design the fixtures and test stations that support it. You will work directly with design engineers during product development so that what you find makes it back into the design before production.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform worst-case circuit analysis and component derating from schematic through post-layout, update the analysis with bench measurements, and work with the responsible engineer to close findings before release
  • Bring up, characterize, and validate new circuit boards against requirements, including authoring test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Perform signal and power integrity simulation and validate the results on the bench, feeding findings back into stackup, layout, and decoupling decisions
  • Plan and execute qualification testing, including HALT/HASS, thermal, vibration, and EMC pre-compliance, and lead root-cause analysis on failures
  • Design and build test fixtures, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) stations, and HALT/HASS setups, including the automation and data acquisition behind them
  • Support design engineers during product development with design-for-test (DFT) and design-for-reliability (DFR) input

You should have the following

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical hardware engineering, with hands-on ownership of design verification, validation, or qualification of circuit boards
  • Hands-on worst-case circuit analysis and component derating on production hardware, from schematic-level analysis through post-layout checks and bench correlation
  • Board bring-up, characterization, and validation experience, including writing your own test plans and reports
  • Signal and power integrity simulation (HFSS, HyperLynx, SIwave, or similar), with bench validation using TDR, VNA, and high-speed oscilloscopes
  • Qualification testing experience, including HALT/HASS and environmental testing (thermal, vibration) to MIL-STD-810 or equivalent standards
  • Experience designing and building test fixtures, HIL stations, and automated test setups, including scripting in Python or similar
  • Board-level design experience: schematics and PCBs you designed yourself. Test fixtures and test stations count
  • Deep proficiency with bench instrumentation: oscilloscopes, network and spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, electronic loads, and environmental chambers
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field

Nice to Have

  • EMC/EMI pre-compliance testing (MIL-STD-461 or equivalent)
  • High-speed interface compliance testing (PCIe, MIPI, USB, Ethernet)
  • Experience taking hardware through a production ramp with a contract manufacturer, including production test development
  • Background in UAV, aerospace, automotive, defense, or medical device hardware

US Salary Range

$187,000 - $315,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.

We’re an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
