The Manager, People Technology is responsible for the administration, optimization, support, and continuous improvement of the organization's People Technology portfolio, including Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), talent acquisition systems, learning platforms, benefits administration technologies, reporting solutions, and third-party vendor integrations.

This role serves as the primary functional owner of People Technology systems and is responsible for ensuring solutions effectively support Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and business operations. The Manager oversees system administration, configuration, vendor relationships, reporting, integrations, releases, testing, and production support while leading a small People Technology team.

The ideal candidate combines strong Workday expertise with leadership skills, business process knowledge, project management experience, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

People Technology Management

  • Manage the day-to-day administration and support of People Technology platforms, including Workday, Greenhouse, TalentLMS, and related systems.
  • Lead a small team responsible for People Technology operations, support, reporting, testing, and project delivery.
  • Assign and prioritize team workload, ensuring timely resolution of support requests, enhancements, and project deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for People Technology issues and system-related concerns.
  • Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Workday Administration & Support

  • Serve as the primary administrator and functional owner for Workday and related People Technology systems.
  • Manage system configuration, business processes, security roles, workflow optimization, and data integrity.
  • Coordinate Workday releases, including impact assessments, testing, deployment activities, communication, and post-release support.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance system functionality, automate processes, and improve user experience.
  • Partner with HR stakeholders to evaluate business requirements and deliver effective technology solutions.

Integrations & Vendor Management

  • Oversee People Technology integrations with payroll providers, benefit carriers, retirement vendors, recruiting platforms, and other third-party systems.
  • Monitor integration performance and coordinate issue resolution with internal technology teams and external vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships, support escalations, service delivery expectations, and system enhancement requests.
  • Support implementation of new integrations, system enhancements, and vendor transitions.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Manage the development and maintenance of HR reports, dashboards, workforce metrics, and compliance reporting.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of HR data across systems.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to identify reporting needs and deliver actionable workforce insights.
  • Promote reporting automation and self-service reporting capabilities where appropriate.

Project Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead People Technology projects from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, deployment, and user adoption.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into system solutions.
  • Maintain project plans, timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and employee experience.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure People Technology systems comply with applicable security, privacy, payroll, benefits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit activities, system controls, and compliance reviews.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, business processes, integrations, testing activities, and support procedures.
  • Support business continuity planning and risk mitigation efforts related to People Technology.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting HRIS, People Technology, or enterprise business applications.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday administration experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading projects, systems, or teams in a People Technology or HRIS environment.
  • Experience supporting Workday configuration, reporting, security, releases, testing, and integrations.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and technology partners.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering business requirements and delivering technology solutions.

Preferred

  • Workday Pro certifications.
  • Experience supporting Greenhouse, TalentLMS, payroll systems, benefits platforms, or related HR technologies.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, organizational transformations, or large-scale system implementations.
  • Experience with workforce analytics, dashboards, and HR reporting.

Professional Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Workday HCM and related People Technology solutions.
  • Understanding of HR operations, benefits administration, payroll processes, talent acquisition, learning, and performance management.
  • Experience with system configuration, business process design, reporting, and integrations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on in supporting technology solutions.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
