Part-Time Economics Teacher

Position Summary

Newark Academy is seeking a part-time IB Economics teacher. The ideal candidate will have experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Economics curriculum and expectations and a passion for working with upper school students.  Ideal candidates will be interested in embracing the wider school community through their involvement in clubs, activities and/or athletics. 


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching economics in upper school or higher education settings. Professionals in related fields or with non-traditional paths to education are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • Experience working with and supporting a diverse community of students, parents and colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience working in independent schools is preferred but not required
  • Experience with International Baccalaureate (IB) is preferred. We would also consider a strong candidate without this experience and provide professional development for IB.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and deliver meaningful lessons to students
  • Collaborate with colleagues, particularly in areas of designing and refining curriculum.
  • Meet school guidelines regarding grading, recordkeeping and use of the learning management system to post class information.
  • Participate in school-wide activities such as workshops, special events and professional meetings.
