Evening Site & Security Supervisor
Newark Academy is seeking an Evening Site & Security Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and well-supervised campus environment during evening operations and after-hours activities. This role oversees campus access, monitors student and visitor behavior, ensures compliance with school policies, responds to incidents and emergencies, and supports facility operations. The Supervisor serves as the primary on-site authority during assigned shifts and will act as a liaison among staff, students, families, and external partners.
The Evening Site & Security Supervisor is expected on campus during critical late-day and evening activities with a schedule of 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm daily. This is a 10 month position, September through June.
Reports to: Director of Operations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise campus operations during evening hours, including extracurricular activities, athletic events, and facility rentals
- Oversee evening security team
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of buildings, grounds, and parking areas to ensure safety and security
- Monitor entrances and exits; manage visitor access and sign-in procedures
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, medical situations, and safety concerns; document and report all events
- Enforce school rules, policies, and behavioral expectations in a fair and professional manner; provide conflict resolution and de-escalation when necessary
- Oversee facility use to ensure proper setup, safe conditions, and adherence to schedules
- Assist with crowd management, student supervision, and parent communication
- Ensure renters comply with school policies, contracts, and safety guidelines
- Maintain communication with school leadership and, when required, local emergency services
- Coordinate with maintenance, coaching, contract cleaners, and administrative staff
- Prepare incident reports, daily logs, and operational updates
- Identify and report maintenance or custodial needs
- Ensure buildings are secured at the end of evening activities (lock-up procedures)
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior experience in law enforcement, security, facilities operations, or a related field
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
- Basic computer skills for reporting and communication
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Capability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions
- Availability for evening, weekend, and occasional holiday shifts
Salary
Base pay range $65,000 - $80,000. Salary is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to education and experience.
