Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:

Safety

• Uses all tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and careful manner and for their intended use.
• Imperative that personnel adhere to all safety standards, procedures and policies to ensure that effective execution of duties and responsibilities

Carpentry

• Construct, repair, and maintain wooden structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Measure, cut, and assemble building materials
• Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time.

Concrete

• Pour and finish concrete surfaces.
• Set up and remove concrete forms.
• Mix and spread concrete materials.
• Repair concrete structures.

 Construction

• Assist with building, repairing, and renovating structures.
• Load, unload, and transport construction materials.
• Operate basic hand and power tools.
• Perform general labor tasks, including digging and site preparation.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations.

Other

• Works necessary hours as requested by manager to ensure completion of projects, response to needed maintenance requests, and provide exceptional quality service.

• Always performs work in a safe manner and uses the appropriate PPE.
• Checks the work area for hazards and corrects/reports unsafe conditions.
• Consider the safety of oneself, and other employees, and customers.
• Follows all safety protocols and seeks advice from supervisor when uncertain.

Communication

• Maintains open communication and cooperates with supervisors, departments, and fellow employees.
• Communicate with supervisors and others immediately when unexpected problems cause absence, lateness, or the need to leave early.

Accountability & Professionalism 

• Abides by policies set forth in the employee policy manual.
• Carries a fair share of the workload.
• Promotes NEW Cooperative through positive, friendly, and professional interactions.
• Is punctual, follows directives, and works in an efficient and timely manner; accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the work.

Customer Service

• Continually works to satisfy customers through effective communication, solving problems, answering questions, and managing their expectations.

• Establishes personal performance goals and works toward these goals.
• Continually upgrades and demonstrates knowledge of the job.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be licensed and insurable to drive. Travel between locations is required.
• One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience with a good mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work in all types of environments, including but not limited to elevated areas (heights), dusty conditions, various weather conditions (hot to cold).
• Understanding of the time commitments of the role throughout the year, as well as the seasonality of the farm supply business and the in-season time commitment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with customer, peers and individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Possesses problem solving capability and understands the operation processes.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. Abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position will frequently  work in wet or humid, extreme cold/heat (all non-weather) conditions, toxic and/ or around caustic chemicals, or vibration both indoors and outdoors.

Position will frequently work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, in fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, work in confined space atmosphere and high noise levels.
