SUMMARY:  We are currently seeking a SolarWinds Orion Engineer to join our team and assist in monitoring, optimizing, and managing IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with SolarWinds products, especially Orion, and a strong focus on ensuring high availability and performance across networks

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • SolarWinds Orion Administration: Install, configure, and maintain the SolarWinds Orion platform to monitor and optimize client network infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, and other network devices.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor network performance, identify issues, and provide timely troubleshooting to ensure high availability and performance of systems.
  • Configuration & Customization: Configure SolarWinds NPM (Network Performance Monitor), NCM (Network Configuration Manager), SAM (Server & Application Monitor), and other SolarWinds modules to meet client needs and optimize network monitoring.
  • Alert Management: Develop custom alerts, notifications, and dashboards in SolarWinds Orion to track network health and performance metrics.
  • Reports & Dashboards: Create detailed reports and build customized dashboards to deliver actionable insights into network health and performance.
  • Integration & Automation: Integrate SolarWinds with other monitoring tools, ITSM platforms, and business systems. Automate workflows and network management tasks where applicable.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure the security, reliability, and compliance of the SolarWinds platform, including regular patching and vulnerability assessments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other technical teams to understand requirements and ensure optimal network monitoring setups.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, monitoring setups, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and support to internal teams and clients regarding SolarWinds tools, and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.

COMPENTENCY:

  • 3+ years of experience in managing, configuring, and supporting SolarWinds Orion (NPM, SAM, NCM, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, performance metrics, and network management best practices.
  • Proficiency in creating custom dashboards, alerts, and reports in SolarWinds Orion.
  • Experience with network performance monitoring, SNMP, and MIBs.
  • Familiarity with integrating SolarWinds with other IT management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Splunk, etc.).
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices, particularly in securing monitoring platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, SQL, etc.) for automating tasks is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (SolarWinds Certified Professional, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, etc.) are a plus.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and ability to document technical information clearly.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficiency in English

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CCNA, CCNP Certifications Preferred.
  • SCP certification is a bonus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing).
  • Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Remote

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: : Full Time, 40 hours per week, plus overtime as needed. Working hours may fluctuate depending upon the client’s needs.

Below is the pay range of this position for considered candidates based on qualifications and experience.

Pay Range

$100,000 - $120,000 USD
