Job Title: System Administrator/Programmer
Reporting to: Director of Information Systems
New Era are seeking to recruit a talented individual responsible for maintaining, upgrading and automating a large estate of Linux and Windows servers and applications, both on-premise and cloud.
The role will involve working with global teams across the New Era Technology group.

For over 15 years our experienced team have been working on pioneering projects across the globe for a variety of corporate, educational and government clients. In the UK, the group has ambitious growth plans and has recently opened our UK headquarters in Slough, alongside a second office in Brighton.
Key responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Information Systems, you will be responsible for:
- Provide day-to-day administration of Linux systems in a worldwide environment, both on-premise and cloud.
- Provide 2nd to 3rd line support for Linux and Windows Servers and other associated IT hardware
- Manage and develop infrastructure solutions on the major Cloud environments.
- Create and manage automation scripts to maintain and manage the various environments.
- Support of end users may be required
- Be responsive 24/7 to outages within this environment.
- Carry out regular updates to Linux and Windows Systems
- Maintain and manage service and equipment inventory databases
- Research and recommend ways to improve the deployment of infrastructure, OS's and applications under management.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required skills and experience:
- At least 5 years' experience in Linux Systems Administration in a highly available environment (Debian experience preferred).
- IP Networking skills including but not limited to switching, firewalls, and routing basics. Facility with network tools is required (tcpdurnp, Wireshark)
- Scripting capabilities (SH, Bash, Python, Perl, YAML)
- Configuration of common services. (DNS, Apache, NGINX, Postfix, Squid, SSH, iptables).
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware / Veeam / Proxmox / KVM)
- Experience with cloud environments (GCP / Azure / AWS)
- Experience with Cloud Automation tools (Kubernetes / Docker / Packer / Ansible / Terraform / GitLab)
- Understanding of clustering services, enabling High Availability failover
- Experience with Enterprise Hardware and Management Tools
- Experience working within a strict Change Management process
- Proactive and highly organised, with strong time management and planning skills
- Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
- Able to commute periodically and on an emergency basis to datacentres in Berkshire, Wiltshire and Northwest London
- Must be UK resident for over 5 years with SC level clearance or willing to obtain SC clearance
