Position Overview:
A Unified Communications (UC) Engineer at New Era Technology BE plays a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting our global Unified Communications portfolio for our national and international customers. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless global voice and video communication through the effective management and deployment of calling platforms, SBCs (Session Border Controllers), Contact centers and related UC infrastructure.
Additionally, you will be in charge of onboarding customers to our UC cloud platform as well as participating in product evaluations and systems testing to expand / enhance our UC cloud platform to meet the market requirements. This in collaboration with teams across Belgium, the United States, and Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the escalation point (L3 support) for the Service Desk, resolving incidents beyond first- and second-line capabilities.
- Manage, configure, and maintain SBCs and calling platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex Calling, Zoom Phone, Cisco Call Manager or similar).
- Implement voice routing, call flows, and interoperability between platforms and PSTN providers.
- Collaborate with global IT teams to standardize and optimize communication solutions across regions.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, ensuring high uptime and reliability.
- Document UC infrastructure, policies, and operational procedures.
- Stay current with evolving UC technologies, best practices, and security standards to and recommend new technologies or methodologies.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Unified Communications engineering or administration.
- Hands-on experience with Unified Communications calling platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams Voice, Cisco CUCM, Webex Calling, Zoom, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with SBC deployments
- Experience with Contact Center integrations / deployments is a plus
- Familiarity with cloud telephony integration, number management, and carrier number provisioning / porting
- IT certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer, CCNP Collaboration, or SBC vendor certifications are a plus.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams Phone System with Direct Routing or Webex Calling with Local Gateways
- Strong knowledge of Session Border Controllers (SBCs) such as AudioCodes, Cisco Cube, ..
- Solid understanding of SIP, VoIP, PSTN, and related networking protocols.
- Knowledge of (PowerShell) scripting for automation and reporting.
- Basic networking knowledge (Routing, Switching, QoS, Firewalls).
- Dutch and English are a must, French is a plus.
