As an IPAM Engineer / DDI Specialist, you will own the design, implementation, optimization, and operational excellence of the enterprise IP Address Management (IPAM) and DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) infrastructure. You will serve as the single source of truth for IP address allocation, tracking, and lifecycle management across on- premises, cloud (AWS VPC IPAM, Azure, GCP), and hybrid environments.
You will collaborate closely with Network Engineering, Security, Cloud Architecture, and Automation teams to ensure seamless integration with Cisco ACI, Arista CloudVision/EOS, and other networking platforms. Your work will drive automation, eliminate IP conflicts, support capacity planning for massive scale, and enhance network visibility, security, and compliance in a 24/7 global operation.
Core Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Experience – 6–10+ years in network engineering with a strong focus on IPAM/DDI in large-scale enterprise environments
• IP Address Strategy & Architecture: Design and maintain scalable IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemes, subnetting hierarchies, and super netting strategies optimized for large enterprise and data-center
fabrics (including Cisco ACI fabrics and Arista leaf-spine architectures).
• DDI Platform Administration: Manage, configure, and optimize enterprise DDI solutions (primarily Infoblox, with exposure to BlueCat, SolarWinds, or Cisco DNA Center IPAM). Handle DNS zones, DHCP
scopes, reservations, failover, and grid/high-availability architectures.
• Integration & Automation: Integrate IPAM with SDN controllers (Cisco ACI Network Insight integration), Arista CloudVision, CMDBs (ServiceNow), orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python/REST APIs), and cloud-native IPAM services. Develop and maintain automation scripts for IP provisioning, discovery, auditing, and reporting.
• Network Discovery & Inventory: Perform automated network discovery of Cisco, Arista, and multi vendor devices; maintain accurate IP-to-device mapping and asset visibility
• Capacity Planning & Optimization: Monitor IP utilization, forecast growth (data centers, IoT, VDI, AI clusters), and proactively reclaim/optimize address space to support business expansion.
• Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Provide Tier-2/3 support for IPAM/DNS/DHCP-related incidents; perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Compliance, Security & Auditing: Enforce IPAM policies for security segmentation, zero-trust access, audit logging, and regulatory compliance. Generate reports for internal audits, SOX, or industry-specific requirements.
• Migration & Modernization: Lead IPAM migrations to next-gen platforms, support cloud IPAM adoption (AWS VPC IPAM, etc.), and enable IPv6 transition strategies.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain detailed runbooks, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Cisco/Arista network architects).
• Vendor & Tool Management: Evaluate, recommend, and manage relationships with IPAM vendors (Infoblox, BlueCat). Stay current with patches, upgrades, and new features.
Core Skills Required:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 6–10+ years in network engineering with a strong focus on IPAM/DDI in large-scale enterprise environments (Fortune 200, global tech, or regulated industries like pharma/healthcare).
Technical Expertise:
• Deep knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 addressing, subnetting, VLANs, VRFs, and routing protocols.
• Hands-on experience with Infoblox NIOS/Grid (highly preferred), BlueCat, or equivalent DDI platforms.
• Solid understanding of Cisco ACI (fabric discovery, integration with Infoblox Network Insight), Arista EOS/CloudVision, and Cisco DNA Center.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation: Python, Ansible, PowerShell, REST APIs, and Git.
• Experience with hybrid/multi-cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP IPAM services).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities (work with network architects at Cisco/Arista level).
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and documentation.
Certifications (preferred or required):
• Infoblox DDI Certified (or equivalent).
• Cisco CCNA/CCNP (Enterprise or Data Center) or Arista ACE.
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent
