Director of Strategic Growth

Newlab is scaling our venture platform globally into geographies that have strategic advantages in our core sectors of focus: Mobility, Energy, and Materials. The Strategy team is looking for a Director of Strategic Growth to help drive the business in this accelerated phase of growth through the development, structuring, and activation of new market opportunities.

Job Summary:

The Director,Strategic Growth will play a critical leadership role in driving the company's growth strategy at the intersection of technical strategy and market development. This individual will be responsible for identifying and executing growth initiatives, developing strategic partnerships, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. The Director, Strategic Growth will work closely with senior leadership to align growth strategies with the overall business objectives and ensure the company’s long-term success.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of critical climate technologies and applied experience within climate-focused advisory, venture capital, or high-growth startups.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Growth Strategy Development:
    • Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and internal capabilities to inform growth initiatives
    • Oversee market research and analysis to identify strategic expansion opportunities 
    • Provide technical expertise to develop theses, positioning and go-to-market strategies for new geographies
    • Work with the strategic finance team to develop budgets and forecasts for growth initiatives
  2. Market and Partnership Development:
    • Initiate, structure, and close high-leverage, high-value initiatives and deals to accelerate Newlab’s growth strategy 
    • Build and maintain relationships with key public and private sector partners and stakeholders 
    • Lead negotiations and manage strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures.
    • Leverage technical expertise to drive concept and partnership development for pilot sites and/or commercialization infrastructure tied to large-scale funding opportunities or market expansion
  3. Performance Management:
    • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of growth initiatives
    • Provide regular reports to the executive team on growth progress, challenges, and opportunities
    • Adjust strategies as needed based on performance data and changing market conditions

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, advisory, public-private partnerships, business development, or related roles 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities

Compensation:

  • Salary is $150,000-$185,000 USD
