Managing Director -New Orleans

Newlab is looking for a Managing Director to lead our regional headquarters in New Orleans. This leader will play a critical role in establishing Newlab New Orleans as a global center of excellence for critical technology startups, industry engagement and investment; driving the strategic growth of the Newlab business and brand in the region. The Managing Director will lead Newlab’s Venture Platform including deep collaboration with public and private partners, teams across Newlab business units, and an expanding portfolio of assets all aimed at catalyzing a critical technology ecosystem to accelerate economic diversification and growth of the Gulf Coast. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead Newlab’s regional strategy and deliver integrated business outcomes including membership, advisory and investment businesses. 
• Serve as single threaded owner for Newlab New Orleans, overseeing the development, implementation and management of the regional strategy and P&L
• Continuously evolve strategy attracting high-impact, high-velocity startups to Louisiana aligned to location thesis
• Participate in annual strategic planning and budget processes to align the regional strategy with Newlab’s global strategy and collaborate with Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure ongoing alignment
• Oversee the tracking and reporting of regional KPIs and outcomes internally and externally 
• Ensure successful delivery of initial launch projects, infrastructure and partnerships
• Maintain deep connectivity across the regional ecosystem and continuously cultivate strategic partnerships;
• Manage the key public and private partnerships that underpin Newlab New Orleans and represent Newlab on all governance councils
• Serve as a thought-leader and the public face of Newlab New Orleans to elevate Newlab’s mission and profile in the region
• Establish and maintain a excellence and a high-performing culture centered around velocity, excellence, collaboration, and accountability
• Collaborate with ELT to define Newlab New Orleans organizational structure based on the regional strategy and KPIs
• Recruit, build and manage a high performing team to deliver the regional strategy
  
  

ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS

• Strategic executive with a strong track record of leading through influence to deliver scaled business outcomes
• Experience managing a P&L and making data-driven decisions to advance business and impact objectives
• Experience working in energy, manufacturing or industrials sectors
• Strong experience building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Proven track record of aligning and inspiring teams around complex missions
• Demonstrated founder empathy, including a track record of working with early-stage startups (e.g. advising,investing, founding)
• Understanding of critical technology commercialization and capital
  
  

EXPERIENCE

• 15+ years of senior management experience in scaling businesses, strategic advisory and/or economic development
• Proven Record of delivering successful public-private partnerships with multi-year timelines
  
  

Compensation

Compensation will be between $220,000-$265,000 per year depending upon experience and qualifications
