Civil Engineer Intern/CO-OP

New Leaf Energy, Inc. is seeking civil/environmental engineering juniors and seniors for Intern/ CO-OP roles on our Civil Engineering team. The Civil Engineer Intern/CO-OP will work with a team of engineers to assist in reviewing and designing renewable energy projects (solar PV, energy storage, wind).
This internship can be filled from our Troy, NY office or our Lowell, MA office. We are offering a winter or summer 2025 internship timeline.
We value in-person collaboration and offer a hybrid work environment. Hybrid employees work in the office at least two out of every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and are free to work from the office or home on other days.
Primary duties will include but not limited to assisting in:
- Site due diligence and research of bylaws;
- Creation of plan sets (CAD);
- Site civil and stormwater design;
- Permit applications;
- General project support tasks.
Requirements
While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes. - Enrolled in a 4-year ABET accredited bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
- On-track to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam for EIT Certification;
- In, or entering into, third or fourth year of college program;
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HYDROCAD or an equivalent tool;
- Ability to work in ad-hoc teams and take direction;
- Ability to occasionally visit project sites;
- Passionate about renewable sources of energy;
- Preference to extend the internship to at least six months (reduced hours during the academic year).
Compensation
Under our compensation framework, the hourly salary in our Lowell location $26.50.
This position is not eligible for benefits with New Leaf Energy.
