Senior Manager, Deal Strategy

New Relic is seeking a proven and experienced Deal Strategy professional to drive success and help achieve our business goals, grow the business, and close the best possible deals.

The ideal candidate will have experience partnering with Go-To-Market teams and helping navigate a rapid growth/maturing phase, automating & scaling operational processes and partnering with our sellers and leadership teams. It is essential for the selected candidate to effectively communicate their ideas and objectives to audiences at the most senior levels of the company and be a strategic advisor to the Sales and Services organization. This role will help shape terms and also be involved with supporting customer reviews of pricing/buying programs.

This role works closely with New Relic’s global Deal Operations, Order Management, & Partner Operations within the Finance organization and works cross-functionally with key stakeholders (e.g. Business Applications, Sales Operations, Legal, Pricing, Product teams) to align on key outcomes and drive operational excellence. 


What you'll do

  • Oversee commercial terms and non-standard approvals
  • Accountable for executing on deal structuring practices & policies that accelerate growth, improve sales velocity and ensure fair value for New Relic and customers
  • Acts as senior escalation point and approval authority in commercial negotiations for respective territory
  • Advise and lead change management to projects and initiatives focused on efficiency and fiscal responsibility by simplifying processes throughout the sales organization
  • Support the implementation and tracking of Sales productivity, planning and reporting efforts for respective deals and deal metrics
  • Advise and communicate on areas for improvement related to deal velocity and accuracy
  • Operate at the highest levels of integrity and transparency and appropriately address any gaps in these areas
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis as needed to support decision-making and business impact
  • Supporting term review and creation
  • Being in a position to share with customers details/pricing 

This role requires

  • 8+ years of Operations/Sales Operations/Finance/Pricing management experience
  • Bachelor’s in finance, accounting or adjacent field
  • Demonstrated understanding of Consumption and/or SaaS go-to-market models
  • Proven success leading & scaling multi-discipline Finance, Pricing, or Operations teams
  • Highly analytical, fact driven, process orientated, but comfortable challenging the status quo and setting new strategic/operational direction
  • Experience managing the Sales cycle and structuring SaaS deals, especially those of significant value. Consumption Business Model experience a big plus
  • Thorough knowledge of Salesforce, CPQ, and advanced financial analysis tools and systems.
  • Combination of strong intellect, creative problem solving, effective communication with colleagues and willingness to roll up sleeves to improve performance
  • Strong business acumen, ideally in a software related environment
  • A consistent track record of using deep analytical skills to see beyond the numbers to drive strategy
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills

The pay range below represents a reasonable estimate of the salary for the listed position. This role is eligible for a corporate bonus plan. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related factors such as an applicant’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Estimated Base Pay Range

$170,000 - $213,000 USD
