About the role

NewsBreak is building ReelBee, an open short-drama distribution platform where any qualified creator or studio can self-publish, earn a transparent revenue share, and get real US audience insights. This is a CEO-sponsored, company-level initiative. As a Creative Editor Intern you will cut the trailers and paid-social creatives that bring viewers to great short dramas, and learn directly from performance data what makes people stop scrolling. This is a 3–6 month internship (at least 24 hours per week) with 2 openings, hiring in parallel in the SF Bay Area (Mountain View) and Beijing.

Pay: $22–$30 per hour (US), depending on experience and location.

What you'll do

  • Cut short dramas into 15–60 second trailers and acquisition creatives (9:16, hook in the first 3 seconds) for Meta, TikTok and Google ads and in-app recommendations, mainly for titles whose partners did not supply creatives or supplied ones that fall short
  • Run quality checks on creatives submitted by content partners (specs, subtitles, hook, ad-platform policy compliance) and lightly re-edit those that do not pass
  • Each week, produce batches of creative variants (different hooks, end CTAs, subtitle styles) per the growth team's test plan, and iterate based on CTR/CPI data
  • Run TikTok / YouTube Shorts / Instagram short-drama channels: edit highlight clips and commentary-style content and keep a steady posting rhythm
  • Use AI tools (auto-subtitles, voice-over, translation, smart editing) to raise output and build reusable creative templates

What we're looking for

  • Currently enrolled or a recent graduate in film, media, design or a related field, with short-form video editing work to show (please include portfolio links)
  • Proficiency in at least one of Premiere, CapCut, or DaVinci Resolve; After Effects or motion graphics a plus
  • A heavy user of short dramas or vertical video who understands hooks and beat-matching, and can explain why an ad creative makes people stop
  • Curious about data: willing to look at CTR and CPI and edit accordingly, not just for looks
  • Able to read and write English subtitles; familiarity with overseas social ad guidelines is a plus
  • Familiarity with AI editing, subtitle and voice tools is a plus
