
Professional Learning Manager
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Professional Learning, the Professional Learning Manager's (PLM) role at Newsela is to serve as a PL consultant to dedicated district accounts and create and deliver customer-specific professional learning to drive customer satisfaction and product engagement. You will deliver high-quality professional learning that drives desired and measurable behavior change to groups of educators and administrators at schools and districts across the country to get the most out of Newsela through in-person sessions, webinars, and online courses. You will inspire session participants via compelling delivery, engagement tactics, and mastery of high quality resources. Additionally, you will communicate with account and customer stakeholders to tailor professional learning sessions to align with customer and product engagement goals. You will work with a portfolio of Newsela’s largest and most complex clients by building relationships with district leaders and providing instructional support to all educators. You will also be an advocate for your customers within Newsela, helping provide product and customer insights, along with your own pedagogical knowledge, to drive greater user engagement.

- Deliver professional learning sessions across formats (live virtual, asynchronous, and in-person).
- Tailor session content based on detailed knowledge of dedicated district accounts, customer needs, and internal user engagement data.

- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success Managers to share customer wins and opportunities for improved relationship strength.
- Support consistent professional planning and delivery for a dedicated set of accounts.
Design, revise, and scale professional learning materials to meet specific customer instructional goals and align with product engagement objectives.
- Gather and analyze customer needs to ensure session content is tailored and scalable.
- Align dedicated district account sessions to customer goals for instruction and product usage.
- Develop or revise a bank of professional learning sessions during Q2 to prepare for the following school year, adhering to set format design and documentation standards.
Represent the Professional Learning team's perspective in cross-functional working groups and special projects to inform Go-to-Market strategies and product initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on programs, special projects, and initiatives (e.g., new product releases, research studies).
- Attend all collaborative meetings, adhere to program deadlines, and represent the perspective, needs, and goals of the Professional Learning team.
- Proactively identify opportunities to include or inform teammates of project direction and impact.

- You have 3+ years of K-12 teaching expertise with at least 5 years of experience in education
- You have experience developing and leading professional learning.
- You are available to travel up to 30% of the time year round, and up to 50% of the time during high-volume delivery seasons.
- You build genuine relationships with customers, and strive to deliver a personalized customer experience to each client in your portfolio.
- You’re comfortable re-calibrating your approach based on customer needs.
- A data-driven decision-maker, you draw on your pedagogical knowledge to inform customer interactions and professional development strategy, and you’re always on a quest to find new and effective ways for educators to better serve the needs of their students.
- You aren’t afraid to think outside the box to help educators break old habits and infuse Newsela’s product suite into their daily instruction.
- While not required, a Masters degree related to the field of education is a plus.
Base compensation: $60,000 - $70,000. Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options and benefits. This compensation range may be adjusted based on actual experience.
