Director of Programmatic Sales

Newsweek is seeking a dynamic Director of Programmatic Sales to co-spearhead our revenue-generating initiatives across digital advertising channels. This critical role involves shaping and executing our programmatic strategy, amplifying client partnerships, and driving measurable business growth. You will help lead the charge in our digital advertising efforts, collaborating with diverse teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions that resonate with our clients and produce impactful results. The ideal candidate is an autonomous, self-motivated individual who can hit the ground running with enthusiasm and expertise.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth across programmatic channels, continuously identifying and capitalizing on opportunities within emerging platforms.
- Set a visionary direction for programmatic sales, establishing both short- and long-term objectives to support sustainable business expansion, while providing expertise on best practices and market insights for optimal campaign effectiveness.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key clients, delivering high-impact, consultative programmatic solutions; act as a trusted advisor to C-suite stakeholders to enhance clients' digital advertising investments.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including Marketing, Product, Ad Operations, and Analytics—to ensure cohesive alignment on client objectives, product positioning, and market strategies.
- Promote knowledge-sharing across teams to drive unified growth initiatives and maintain a seamless, integrated approach.
- Regularly report on financial performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions to ensure ongoing success.
- Represent Newsweek as a programmatic expert at industry events, conferences, and client meetings, showcasing our capabilities and solidifying our brand presence in the market.
- Take ownership of revenue targets, budget management, and resource allocation to achieve and surpass goals.
- Stay abreast of digital advertising trends and programmatic advancements, utilizing this knowledge to position our offerings competitively within the market.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in programmatic sales, with a deep understanding of digital media buying, direct display, and programmatic advertising ecosystems.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and building long-lasting, high-value client relationships in the digital media space.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a proven ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making, trend forecasting, and campaign optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership skills that inspire and motivate both direct reports and cross-functional partners, with strong influencing skills to align on shared goals.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex programmatic concepts clearly and compellingly to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, adept at navigating ambiguity and adapting strategies in line with industry developments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with advanced proficiency in Excel and reporting tools.
- Strong knowledge of the Programmatic Ecosystem - DSPS, SSPs, DMP, Data Management, etc.
- Experience converting Open Exchange to 1:1 deals
- Experience using audience data to close deals
- Ability to bring existing clients to Newsweeks’ massive audience - we’re the fastest growing news site in the world
- Experience using GAM, Magnite and other SSPs to monitor campaigns and share results
- Comfortable presenting programmatic in-person or over Zoom with the innate ability to end the conversation with PMP deal.
Salary Range: The expected annual base salary for this role is $130,000 - $160,000.
