Newsweek is seeking a freelance Health Reporter to join our UK team on a casual worker agreement.
The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of consumer-facing general health and medical topics, medical advancements and treatments, wellness trends, and the broader healthcare industry landscape in the United States. The ability to condense complex health and medical concepts into accessible and engaging content will be highly valuable.
With a focus on an American audience, examples of topics to be covered include:
- Women and Men’s Health (menopause, preventative screening, lifestyle, family health).
- Heart Health (cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, cholesterol)
- Respiratory Health (asthma, COPD)
- Oncology (breast cancer, NSCLC, prostate cancer)
- Autoimmune Conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis)
- Alzheimer’s Disease (research, treatments, market trends)
- Wearables & Digital Health (health ROI, consumer tech)
The Health Reporter will be able to research, source, pitch, and write stories each day.
The successful candidate will have experience in a reporting role at a reputable organization. They will have a strong understanding of digital journalism. They will have a skillful approach to writing engaging stories. They will be adept at identifying health stories and topics of interest to a U.S. audience.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality coverage that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.
You will be offered work on various days as per the needs of the business which you may accept on a mutually agreeable basis.
You may work from home anywhere in the UK.
