The Role

We are seeking a Visual Merchandising Project Manager to develop and execute physical merchandising strategies that enhance Nex Playground’s visibility and sales at key retail partners. This role is responsible for leading merchandising programs that create a world class customer experience, ensuring product presence across retail environments aligns with Nex's brand vision and sales initiatives.

The Visual Merchandising Project Manager will fall under Retail Strategy and work cross-functionally with marketing, creative teams, and external retail operation teams to design, implement, and optimize merchandising strategies. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of shopper experiences, retail display concepts, and the intersection of technology and retail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help manage the development and execution of merchandising strategies to optimize Nex Playground’s presence at retailers, warehouse clubs and other key partners.
  • Develop comprehensive merchandising playbooks for retailer footprints, ensuring consistent brand messaging and seamless customer experiences across physical spaces.
  • Partner closely with channel marketing, and creative teams to build out engaging display programs.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including RFQs/RFPs, budget processing, and purchase orders for merchandising materials, fixtures
  • Conduct research on shopper journey insights and display effectiveness to drive the evolution of merchandising strategies.
  • Oversee the design, engineering, prototyping, and production of physical retail merchandising displays, including demo units, fixtures, in-store signage, and point-of-purchase installations that align with retailer requirements.
  • Ensure all physical merchandising elements meet brand, budget, and timeline requirements, collaborating with vendors and manufacturers to optimize production and deployment.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for in-store merchandising, including fixture placement, planograms, display compliance, and security measures (e.g., tethers, alarms, and loss prevention strategies).
  • Track and manage project timelines, workback schedules, and deliverables to ensure on-time execution.
  • Review engineering specs, prototypes, printed proofs, and fixture production processes to meet brand and retailer standards.
  • Analyze retail performance metrics and use data-driven insights to refine merchandising strategies.
  • Effectively communicate project updates, risks, and timelines to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of experience in retail merchandising, e-commerce merchandising, or related fields, preferably in consumer electronics, gaming, or interactive entertainment.
  • Strong understanding of shopper behavior, retail merchandising execution
  • Experience with category management, buyer relations, and retail operations with major retailers and warehouse clubs.
  • Familiarity with global retail guidelines and execution processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex merchandising projects, balancing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with internal teams and external retail partners.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
