The Role

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join the growing Corporate Accounting team at Nex. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is comfortable managing a small, growing team while navigating challenges to help build a disciplined and scalable accounting foundation as Nex expands across multiple channels and global markets.

In this role, you will own key areas of the monthly close, lead complex reconciliations, and help establish robust accounting policies, controls, and reporting processes. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

You will partner closely with the Technical Accounting team, FinOps, Supply Chain, Fulfillment, and Business Systems to ensure data integrity and audit readiness, while driving process automation and cross-functional alignment as the company continues to scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and execute the month-end close process, coordinating with internal teams and outsourced accounting advisors to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting.
  • Partner with the internal Technical/Revenue Accounting team to ensure revenue recognition models comply with ASC 606 and company revenue policies.
  • Review complex balance sheet reconciliations, including accounts receivable, deferred revenue, inventory, prepaids, and accrued expenses, ensuring accuracy and maintaining audit-ready supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and manage audit support for assigned areas, including developing audit-ready schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring timely resolution of inquiries.
  • Drive improvements to accounting processes, systems and data workflows, leveraging Excel, Power Query, and automation or BI tools to reduce manual effort and enhance data accuracy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FinOps, Supply Chain, and Fulfillment teams to validate accounting data flows and ensure consistent treatment across operational systems.
  • Support technical accounting analysis related to new business initiatives and evolving accounting requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation and optimization of ERP and business systems to support scalable accounting processes as the company grows.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, 2+ years of people management
  • Ideally within consumer electronics, e-commerce, or hardware businesses & early stage startup experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of the U.S. GAAP, with emphasis on revenue recognition, inventory, and COGS accounting.
  • Advanced Excel and data skills with ability to analyze and reconcile large data sets.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred). Experience with accounting software systems such as Blackline and FloQast is a bonus. Familiarity with Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, and WMS platforms is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting system implementation or process automation is a plus and highly valued.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to work independently, ownership mentality, and ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying ASC 606 for multi-channel businesses (DTC, wholesale, and distribution).
  • Exposure to cost accounting in hardware or physical goods environments.
  • Prior experience managing or preparing for external audits in a high-growth company.
  • Demonstrated track record of process improvement and building scalable accounting operations.
