Reports to: Sr. Director, Design

The Role

As our Art Director, you will drive the visual direction of motion games and other experiences on the Nex platform, balancing hands-on design with creative leadership. This role is ideal for a senior creative who wants to define art direction while still staying close to execution and raise the bar for visual quality. You’ll work with the Senior Director of Design to shape digital products that are distinctive, playful, and remarkable in the world of family entertainment.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and uphold Nex’s visual language across game studio projects, from original Nex IPs to external partnerships.
  • Elevate the standard across projects by pushing for craft excellence and innovative ideas.
  • Establish clear benchmarks, style guides, and design review processes to ensure consistent, polished execution throughout the team.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Publishing, and other teams on the production and promotion of our games.
  • Help cultivate a strong Design team culture and share creative leadership responsibilities through feedback and coaching efforts, in coordination with the Senior Director of Design.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience. We welcome candidates with a strong background in communication design and art direction. Video game industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent taste and attention to detail across design disciplines, from typography to layout, color, composition, and motion.
  • Strong creative point of view, and the ability to bring others along through clear communication.
  • Desire to make something distinctive, playful, and remarkable. Challenge the team to question established trends and conventions when appropriate.
  • Ability to both lead creatively and execute hands-on work at a high level.
  • Ability to balance priorities and maintain standards across multiple projects in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.
