Job Duties and Responsibilities

Applicants should have the necessary skills to perform the following job functions:

  • Produce succinct, accurate, and well-documented analyses that synthesize information at a level appropriate for audiences with a range of understanding of the topic, including both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Products may include reports, fact sheets, slide decks, talking points, briefing memos, white papers, charters, and standard operating procedures. 
  • Manage a master document, integrating inputs from multiple sources and authors, editing content for consistency, clarity, and accuracy based on Nexight and client style guides, and serving as the last review before a document is delivered to a client. 
  • Develop detailed and high-level synthesis and summaries of interviews, meetings, workshops, and other engagements, capturing key themes and meaningful conclusions. 
  • Edit documents to ensure technical accuracy of materials while improving grammar, readability, style, flow, and persuasiveness to achieve objectives. 
  • Provide basic project management and organizational support, developing project timelines and charters, maintaining accurate records and knowledge management, and offering thoughtful suggestions on approaches or solutions to challenges.
  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder meetings and capture and synthesize discussions to inform work product development; capture and follow up on actions items; and drive project schedules forward.

Location and Physical Demands

Nexight’s offices are in Silver Spring, MD. This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be able to travel to the Washington, D.C., area to support clients.

This is primarily sedentary in an environmentally controlled office setting, although moving between work areas may be required. Manipulating a computer keyboard or mouse and operating standard office equipment is typically required for this position. Summary of Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparative experience (4 years) in science, business management, communications, public policy, infrastructure security, or related discipline with demonstrated writing experience
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant professional experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly review, understand, analyze, and synthesize large amounts of qualitative or quantitative data and communicate it to a variety of audiences 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing analytic content and leading editorial review cycles
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, that reflect strong critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis capabilities
  • Ability to comfortably and professionally communicate with colleagues, clients, and external partners
  • Ability to work well individually and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred

  • Professional experience in a consulting or other professional services environment 
  • Interest and/or prior professional experience in critical infrastructure topics, energy security, and cybersecurity, or with industry asset owner/operators
  • Experience designing, organizing, and facilitating work sessions
  • Ability to obtain Secret or TS/SCI clearance 

 

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role considers various factors in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 to $90,000.
