Data and Analytics Lead

Next47, a leading venture capital firm focused on enterprise technology investments across US, Europe, and Israel and with offices in Palo Alto, London, Paris, Munich, Berlin, and Tel Aviv, is looking to hire a Data and Analytics Lead  

Data is at the heart of Next47 and touches every aspect of what we do including sourcing potential investments, performing due diligence, making investment decisions, and supporting portfolio companies post-investment.  The Data and Analytics Lead will help us better utilize data and provide systematic insights to improve our sourcing and decision-making. The Data and Analytics Lead will be an individual contributor who will work closely with investment and other team members across Next47 and will manage a variety of data and workflow platforms. This role provides a unique opportunity to leverage experience in data and analysis in order to develop expertise in venture capital while contributing to various aspects of our firm’s success. The Data and Analytics Lead will be Next47’s first ever professional in this area. This position is based in Palo Alto and reports to Next47’s Chief Operating Officer.  

Responsibilities

  • Identify meaningful insights from both qualitative and quantitative data; interpret and communicate analysis, insights, and findings to leaders across the firm in order to improve business outcomes 
  • Conduct research studies and establish predictive analytics related to sourcing investment opportunities, completing new and follow-on investments, adding value to portfolio companies, and tracking progress at portfolio companies
  • Develop and own a data platform that leverages both internal and external data sources. 
  • Leverage subscriptions to a variety of information services to enhance models for highlighting interesting companies that fit specified investment criteria
  • Utilize industry data to monitor trends regarding interactions with targeted companies including successful investment cycles  
  • Present findings and make recommendations for improving business outcomes

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative area such as Computer Science, Decision Science, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines (master’s or other graduate-level degree a plus)
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience working with data to inform and influence business decisions and outcomes
  • Ideal candidates have experience leveraging data to support decision-making; and have owned a process end-to-end; this can include experience as part of the growth team at a rapidly growing (preferably venture-backed) technology company
  • Proficiency with SQL (additional programming languages a plus) 
  • Experience in cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing both structured and unstructured data
  • Broad knowledge of applied statistics and causal inference
  • Strong business intuition, data analysis skills, as well as business presentation skills to share findings
  • Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions/recommendations in a group setting
  • Proven ability  to create and improve processes and operations 
  • Experience in global organizations a plus, particularly with companies that have operations in the United States, Europe, and Israel
  • Creative problem solver who is passionate about seeking new solutions to respond to challenges and opportunities
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and desire for constant learning and improvement
  • Excellent organizational and executive presentation skills
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic capable of working both independently and collaboratively

Additional Requirements

  • Must be authorized to legally work within the United States without sponsorship.

Role Location: Palo Alto, California (Onsite/Hybrid)

  • Next47 is headquartered in downtown Palo Alto with team members working from our HQ a minimum of three days per week.

Compensation

The base salary range for this Palo Alto, California-based role is between $110,000-$150,000 annually, with the base salary offered being varied depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus plan will also be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and other benefits; and a 401(k) matching program.
