About the Role
We are looking for a Engineering Manager (Hands-On) to lead a small team at Nexxen. This role is ideal for Senior Developer who is eager to take the next step into a leadership role. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend solutions in a dynamic environment where you can influence architecture and take ownership of the backend roadmap.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor a small team of offshore engineers (while remaining 80% hands-on).
• Architect, design, and implement scalable backend solutions for Nexxen’s core products.
• Own backend infrastructure and ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Define and enforce best practices in coding, architecture, and system design.
• Work closely with product managers, frontend developers, and DevOps teams to align business and technical objectives.
• Research and integrate new technologies to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Oversee backend development lifecycle from planning to production deployment.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of experience in backend development, building scalable production systems.
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership role (team lead/ tech lead/ Architect).
• Strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot) – Must!
• Experience in designing microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.
• Solid experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, Vertica).
• Experience with cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for system design and architecture.
• Experience working with offshore teams – a big advantage.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives.
• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent.
