Producer

Overview /Objective

  • The Producer position is a full-time staff role in the Producers Department at NFL Films. This position is focused on all creative aspects of unscripted filmmaking and the production of television shows, documentaries, features, and other commercial content created for platforms including broadcast, cable, streaming, and social.  This is a hands-on role based in a creative, collaborative office atmosphere with opportunities to work in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Produce football and other sports stories of various types and styles: short form, long form, features, serialized, specials, and access shows for various broadcast partners.
  • Participate and provide creative direction in all phases of production for said programming, including writing pacing, musical direction, interview look, and overall visual feel and sound design to drive the story.
  • Edit content ranging from feature length documentaries to short segments, highlight packages, and longer access show segments on Avid Media Composer.
  • Write lines of script for narration and direct voice over artist during recording sessions.
  • Direct in-house and on-location shoots, as-needed, including interviews in the field.
  • Oversee creative aspects of post-production & delivery workflows.
  • Pitch ideas ranging from small segments to multi-episode documentary series for both new and existing programming and broadcast partnerships.
  • Research and log footage, including game footage, b-roll, interviews, and archival footage utilizing Avid Media Composer and NFL proprietary software.
  • Collaborate with other Producers on larger projects.
  • Oversee Production Assistants, Associate Producers, and Feature Producers assigned to your projects.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in television, film, media, communications, creative writing, or other relevant areas of study.
  • Minimum 5-years’ experience in television/film production specifically in writing, editing, directing, and producing.
  • Minimum 3-years professional editing, directing or television experience (prior experience with Avid Media Composer is preferred).
  • Detailed knowledge of professional football (NFL).
  • Strong Interest in telling football stories and other sports stories.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience executing premium production from concept to completion.
  • Knowledge of NFL Films programming, past and present.
  • Previous experience in sports storytelling and documentaries is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience working with a project budget, utilizing resource-management skills.

Travel

  • Minimal to moderate travel, depending up on time of year and scope of projects.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • ~40 hours/week
  • Candidate must be available & willing to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • This is not a remote position. This is an in-office position located at NFL Films in Southern New Jersey.
