Director of Strategic Security Programs and Policy

Summary/Objective:

The Director of Strategic Security Programs and Policy is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic security programs to protect NFL assets across the League. This role will have primary oversight of all matters related to SAFETY Act Certification and renewal for the League, and will provide technical assistance to individual clubs seeking Certification or Designation. The Director will also lead the development, implementation, and management of security policies to ensure operational consistency and compliance, and will oversee all contract and budget functions for the Security Department. In addition, this position will identify and evaluate emerging security technologies that enhance safety and security for fans, employees, and stadiums.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of security policies and procedures supporting the daily operations of the Security Department.
  • Conduct regular policy reviews and updates to address evolving threats, operational needs, and technological advancements.
  • Ensure policies are clearly communicated, consistently enforced, and aligned with legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Oversee NFL’s Best Practices for Stadium Security and Fan Conduct Programs, ensuring standards are continuously evaluated, updated, and audited.
  • Ensure Best Practice compliance for International Series Games and other major special events managed by the NFL Security Department.
  • Coordinate and manage all contracts, RFPs, and procurement processes for the Security Department.
  • Oversee department-wide budget management, ensuring accurate, bottom-up budget development for all events and initiatives.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging security technologies to improve the League’s safety and security posture

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience.
  • Proven ability to prepare executive-level presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Education and Experience

  • At least 5 years of senior executive leadership experience.
  • Background in accounting or budget management.
  • Experience working with security technologies.

  • Proven track record as a strong communicator, both in writing and presentations, with the ability to rapidly create detailed written reports.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management skills and demonstrated success leading initiatives with organization-wide impact.
  • Assist the Chief Security Officer with the management of select NFL programs and projects.
  • Supervisory responsibilities: Project Manager & Administrative Security Associate

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range. 

 

Salary

$165,000 - $210,000 USD

This role requires onsite presence at an NFL office or stadium location, and remote and/or hybrid working options are not offered.
