Director, International Social Content - EMEA

The NFL’s Social & Influencer Marketing team is going global – with a newly added role focused on social, content and influencer operations in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australia. This role will sit at the center of the NFL social team and plays a key role in building and expanding the league’s social footprint on a global scale. With a key focus on operations outside the United States, this role will be pivotal to fan development across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia while constantly pushing the NFL into new markets on year-round basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Social & Content Marketing
    • Primary point of contact for NFL’s international social media presence primarily across Europe (except Spain) along with the expansion/launch of new social channels in emerging global markets. This role will also support social and content operations in the Middle East, Africa, and Australia
      • Act as the day-to-day lead for global/regional social agencies and collaborators, ensuring seamless execution, cultural relevance, and creative consistency
    • Work directly with market-specific social teams and agency partners to support day-to-day social-focused operations and always-on strategies
      • Constantly evaluate the NFL’s always-on social strategy on a market-by-market basis, including leading the adoption of new/emerging platforms when appropriate
      • Inform and help develop global social account architecture
      • Inform programming strategies for global handles – “local” vs. “global” channel output
      • Responsible for developing social best practices for key international markets as platforms and channels continue to evolve
    • Support local content operations around International Series Games throughout Europe and other priority regions
    • Collaborate with US-based Content Marketing team on development of all localized creative and productions
    • Create new opportunities for expanded social-focused activation around the NFL’s biggest events, inclusive of Super Bowl, Draft, international games and more
    • Develop new global social monetization strategies leading to new sponsored/branded content opportunities for international markets on year-round basis
    • May oversee a small international social or content team as operations scale across EMEA
    • Develop efficient ways for local content creation to work cohesively with global content generated via NFL social lab
    • Ensure security standards and brand understanding are well informed and maintained for all relevant markets
    • Maintain awareness of local cultural nuances, content sensitivities, and legal requirements across markets to ensure content is locally compliant and appropriate
    • Stay abreast of platform trends and best practices across both global and region-specific platforms
    • Help define and track KPIs for international social and influencer efforts, including fan growth, engagement, regional reach, and creator ROI
  • Creator & Influencer Marketing
    • Lead the strategic implementation and help to shape development of the region’s always-on creator and influencer programs while ensuring markets continue to have a well-balanced program within key verticals such as Fashion, Music, and Gaming
    • Drive global influencer / creator initiatives within the market – inclusive of events such as Creator Flag Games, notable musical performances, etc
    • Identify and build direct relationships with culturally relevant creators & influencers that support regional fan development goals and priorities
    • Support market-specific teams primarily in the UK on creator and influencer execution across activations, events, and content
    • Lead marketing implementation around key tentpole moments and/or key initiatives which involve globally relevant talent (i.e. Super Bowl Halftime Show)
  • Additional:
    • Support global social agencies with their always-on approach; help drive efficient strategies for emerging global markets while improving/maximizing new ways of working on global scale
    • Work alongside NFL’s Social Analytics team to analyze and implement change from data-driven learnings on a global scale

Required Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in a sports-related field
  • Prior experience managing social content on behalf of a major sports property
  • Extensive familiarity with the sports landscape outside the US
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience working with influencers, creators and talent
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and thrive in the "always-on", 24/7 NFL news cycle
  • Strong eye for social-friendly content, with ability to understand what will perform well
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NFL, all 32 teams, and players across the league
  • Expert-level understanding of current and emerging social platforms
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across digital platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, marketing, sports management, or a related field
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills strongly preferred

Travel:

Travel expected for international games, content shoots, and regional planning sessions (~20–30%)

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:

NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week inc. some weekend working

Salary

£90,000 - £125,000 GBP
