Manager, Fan Development
The Fan Development Manager will be responsible for driving the growth and expansion of the NFL fan base in Spain. This position oversees the planning, execution, and measurement of all fan development initiatives, tentpole moments, and market wide campaigns.
The role includes shaping fan communication strategies, managing relationships with local influencers, creators, and celebrities, leading 1:1 fan journey and database communication efforts, coordinating promotional inventory across both partner platforms and NFL Spain owned and operated channels, maintaining strong relationships with NFL Clubs, and overseeing local agencies and vendors to ensure flawless execution.
In addition, this role is responsible for driving impact across digital channels and orchestrating a cohesive fan journey that connects all touchpoints (paid, earned, owned, and partner platforms) to systematically grow fandom in Spain.
This role reports to the Marketing Lead and is based in Madrid, Spain.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the planning, execution, delivery, and tracking of all fan development initiatives and campaigns in Spain, working closely with several cross-functional marketing teams such as Strategy & Planning, Insights, Fan 1:1 Marketing, DTC Marketing, Club Marketing, etc.
- Collaborate with the NFL Insights and Data & Analytics teams to better understand Spain fandom and behavioral trends to better inform marketing decisions and attract new audiences including game and live events.
- Manage and monitor Spain fan development KPIs reporting daily, weekly, and/or monthly (initiative dependent).
- Develop local influencer, creator and celebrity engagement pipeline, as well as content and tentpoles from ideation to execution and reporting in partnership with functional NFL teams overseeing agencies’ relationships.
- Brief, manage and oversee the relationships with the different local and global agencies for influencers, BTL (production & execution of events), market research local partners and database vendors.
- Manage and track NFL O&O inventory from NFL.com to mobile apps and newsletters.
- Lead the development and implementation of fan journey frameworks to connect audiences from awareness to conversion, including optimizing touchpoints across digital platforms, social media, streaming, and partner ecosystems.
- Coordinate and oversee NFL Fan Tracker, research needs and viewership from briefing to presenting (internal and external) working closely with the NFL Insights team.
- Support and lead Global Marketing Program (GMP) marketing initiatives with all participating NFL Clubs.
- Management of seasonal marketing partners and potential interns/collaborators (outsourcing)
- Management of fan engagement agencies and third parties (market research, loyalty & acquisition programs, etc.)
- Ensure consistent growth, performance, and engagement across digital channels (paid, owned, and partner), contributing to the development of long-term NFL fandom in Spain.
Required Qualifications
- Degree educated (Marketing/Digital, Administration/Business, Finance and/or related)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- 1 year management experience leading people/teams (agencies, vendors, stakeholders, others)
- Fluent in Spanish and English (both spoken and written)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret insights and data to drive fan engagement strategies
- Proficient in marketing terms, digital, market research and innovation
- Proven creative problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused mindset
- Strong communication, drive, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in using PowerPoint, Excel and Word to develop presentations and budgets
- Multitasking skills and good time-management skills
- Passport (for international travel)
- Experience working with digital channels and/or CRM, funnel management, or audience data is strongly preferred.
Other Key Attributes / Characteristics
- Sports/Entertainment/FMCG/market research/marketing experience preferred but not essential (ideally knowledge of NFL to facilitate the process).
- A strong team player, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually, and independently.
- Deadline and results-driven, with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, and communicate effectively, both internally and externally.
- A strong understanding of emerging fan behaviors across digital and social environments, and a comfort operating in fast-moving cultural and content ecosystems.
