Manager, Commercial Strategy and Operations – Club Business Development

The NFL’s Club Business Development department guides the NFL’s transformation from current to future state using data, creativity and collaboration to accelerate revenue globally. The group supports the 32 Clubs in delivering direct local value & best-in-class fan experiences via data-driven insights & innovation. In addition to partnering with the clubs, Club BD works cross-functionally to guide key strategic initiatives at a League level.

The Manager, Commercial Strategy and Operations, will drive key priorities at both the League and Club level. The role will sit at the intersection of multiple business verticals (ticketing, marketing, fan experience, new ventures & innovation, and more) to support all 32 Clubs, while also identifying and capitalizing on new areas of opportunity across the League. The position requires someone who is a passionate, results-driven problem solver that uses data, creativity, and collaboration to drive transformational results. The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Commercial Strategy and Operations and requires someone who is a highly driven entrepreneur, a strategic thinker and comfortable with ambiguity.

The NFL’s ticket sales landscape is more dynamic and competitive than ever, demanding a smarter, more connected approach to how the league and clubs market, sell, and engage fans. To meet that challenge, the Manager, Commercial Strategy and Operations, will help unify Ticket Sales marketing efforts, turn insights into action, and ensure every club is equipped to drive demand and conversion more effectively. This role will serve as the central connector between Club Business Development, Marketing, Martech, and Clubs helping bridge league strategy with club execution. They will analyze what’s working across teams and markets, surface best practices, and develop scalable league resources that make it easier for clubs to launch and optimize campaigns to sell tickets.

In addition to supporting clubs, this position will be the primary marketing point of contact for the NFL’s ticketing partners, ensuring campaign alignment and performance accountability across the ecosystem. They will also lead the marketing strategy for the NFL Ticket ecosystem working closely with League Ticketing Partners, helping shape how the league builds awareness, drives engagement, and grows fan participation through its evolving multi-partner ticketing model. This role is strengthening the connective tissue across the NFL linking data, technology, and marketing strategy to help every club sell smarter and to position the league for sustainable, long-term growth in ticket sales.

Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy and Operations (League and Clubs)

  • Analyze performance across clubs to understand what’s driving ticket sales identifying trends, testing learnings, and surfacing actionable insights that can be shared league-wide to improve marketing efficiency and conversion.
  • Craft, share, and implement actionable best practices that increase ticket sales and fan engagement. Support clubs by spotting trends, building toolkits, and providing strategic marketing guidance that can be adapted to each club’s local market dynamics. 
  • Lead initiatives to boost efficiency and impact of ticket marketing programs, including channel optimization, creative approaches, and fan acquisition strategies.
  • Formulate measurement frameworks to assess the effectiveness of ticket sales campaigns, helping clubs understand performance drivers and further optimize future efforts.
  • Partner with Martech and Data & Analytics to design and deploy ticket-focused customer journeys, lead nurturing campaigns, and automated programs that better leverage league infrastructure to convert interest into purchases.
  • Collaborate with the cross functional teams to create compelling campaigns for tentpole moments (Schedule Release, etc.) that resonate with target audiences and drive ticket revenue
  • Partner with cross org league teams to deliver club benchmarking reports powered by detailed analyses and actionable insights to help inform club and league strategy.

NFL Ticket Partners

  • Develop and oversee the marketing strategy along with NFL Ticketing partners, ensuring cohesive positioning, storytelling, and campaign activation across all ticketing platforms and markets.
  • Be the primary marketing contact for ticketing partners, ensuring campaigns are coordinated, KPIs are tracked, and league and partner objectives remain tightly aligned.
  • Leverage strategic relationships with ticketing partners to execute marketing strategies to boost awareness and maximize ticket sales across the league.
  • Support and develop team resources, providing guidance, structure, and mentorship to strengthen the overall function and ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Serve as a strategic connector between clubs and ticketing partners to ensure clubs have the resources, insights, and support needed to maximize ticket sales success.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of professional marketing experience, ideally within sports, entertainment, or live events.
  • Proven success supporting or leading ticket sales marketing preferably at a team, venue, or league level.
  • Hands-on experience managing campaigns that drive measurable outcomes such as ticket revenue, attendance, or fan acquisition.
  • Comfortable working across paid media, CRM, and digital channels to drive conversions and engagement. Experience in digital advertising a plus (email, social, O&O, etc.)
  • Familiarity with marketing technology platforms (primarily Adobe and Google Analytics) and CRM-driven fan journeys.
  • Strong understanding of the ticketing ecosystem including primary, secondary, and partner platforms.
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret marketing and sales data to inform decisions.
  • Experience with highly matrixed, cross-organizational initiatives
  • Ability to build and foster a broad network of relationships 
  • Highly driven, collaborative 'entrepreneur' who is a strategic thinker and well organized. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, excellent time management and organization skills
  • Self-starter, independent, a creative thinker, ambitious, results and detail-oriented
  • Experience with data visualization tools a plus

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Travel 25% - 50%

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Salary

$90,000 - $125,000 USD
