Broadcast Representative

United States Stadium

Broadcast Representative

The Broadcast Representative is the Broadcasting Department's onsite and virtual representative at all games throughout the season. The Broadcast Rep serves as the NFL's liaison to the televising network, team, and internal NFL departments and is responsible for deciding commercial break placement within all NFL games.

Broadcast Reps can be assigned to work games either in-person or virtually. For select games, the Broadcast Rep will serve onsite as the voice of the NFL Broadcasting department. Leading up to the game, the Broadcast Rep is responsible for contacting the network producer, director, associate director, and operations manager to confirm the time and location of the on-field Sideline Security Meeting and to introduce themself to the NFL Sideline TV Coordinator (Green Hat).

On gameday, the Broadcast Rep is expected to arrive to the stadium 3 hours prior to kickoff to help address any operational issues. The Broadcast Rep will check in with the network crew and work to ensure that all operational needs are met by the team and stadium. The Broadcast Rep will also check in with team representatives to assist in any interactions with the televising and radio networks.

Following the initial check with the televising network and team reps, the Broadcast Rep will attend several pregame meetings, beginning with the Sideline Security meeting. At this meeting, the NGR will ensure that the game director, ops manager, individual network camera operators, and NFL Films crew meet and discuss plans for the game with staff from the Teams Reps and Stadium/ Team Field Security. The Broadcast Rep will also attend the 90-minute meeting in order to discuss game timings, commercial break timings, possible break extensions, and any concerns or issues as they relate to television or interactions between game officials and television. Present at this meeting are the Referee, Back Judge, team PR reps, Green Hat, TV Orange Sleeves, and the network associate director.

The Broadcast Rep can also be assigned to work games virtually. Following a similar protocol to an onsite Broadcast Rep, the virtual Broadcast Rep is responsible for reaching out to the network Associate Director and NFL Sideline TV Coordinator (Green Hat) to introduce themself and discuss any pertinent game elements. The Virtual Broadcast Rep will utilize a non-delayed commercial feed to decide placement of commercial breaks in-game. Whether onsite or virtual, all Broadcast Reps are responsible for notifying the NFL Broadcasting department of any notable in-game issues.

*Note* Games are not guaranteed by signing up for the program. You will be scheduled on a need-base at the discretion of the program manager.
