Green Hat
The objective of the Green Hat is to ensure the broadcast of the game occurs in a scheduled timely manner that is in compliance with all NFL broadcast policies regarding game administration and commercial coordination. In doing so, the Green Hat will serve as a sideline liaison between the officiating crew, the broadcasting network, and the NFL.
Responsibilities
- Understanding completely all NFL Broadcasting policies regarding game administration and commercial coordination, as provided by the League office.
- Being on site no less than two hours before kickoff and staying through the conclusion of the game
- Serve as a communication liaison between the officiating crew, the broadcasting network, and the assigned NFL Broadcast Representative.
- Ensuring the telecast of the game occurs with the appropriate number of commercial breaks occurring in each quarter with minimum disruption to the normal flow of the game.
- Providing direction to the assigned network Orange Sleeves in the execution of signals and approving opportunities for commercial breaks.
- Submitting a postgame report detailing the commercial breaks, game timing, and overall operation within twenty-four hours of each game.
- Participating in preseason training seminar and weekly conference calls during the season.
- And upholding the NFL's core values of Respect, Integrity, Resiliency, and Responsibility to Team.
Qualifications
- Working understanding of NFL football and its rules/policies
- Prior football coaching/officiating experience
- Extensive professional experience working in live production environment
- Willing to be available and travel to NFL games 10 Sundays per year + postseason if needed
- Detail oriented individual who is able to perform and follow directions seamlessly in a high-pressure environment
- Able to accept, process, and successfully apply criticism/training
- Able to dedicate time during the week to weekly calls and other essential job functions
Supervisory Responsibility
Primary Green Hats are responsible for setting training schedule with back up and ensuring that they receive proper game day training to ensure that the backup can step in seamlessly for Primary Green Hat.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand and walk the sideline for entire NFL game while being alert at all times
Travel
To and from the stadium 10+ Sundays per season (+ postseason if needed)
Expected Hours of Work
- Approximately 6 hours per game + 1 hour per postgame report 10x per season.
- 30 minutes for weekly conference call each week of the season (21 weeks + postseason if needed)
