Vice President, Investigations
Summary/Objective:
The Vice President (VP) of Investigations will lead and oversee all investigative operations across the organization, ensuring that all cases are conducted with integrity, accuracy, and efficiency, and are closed in a timely manner. The VP will manage a team of Directors and Security Representatives and provide oversight for a wide range of investigations, including background and due diligence, Personal Conduct Policy (PCP) violations, tampering, game integrity, insider threat, and digital forensics. In addition to operational oversight, the VP will partner with the Chief Security Officer to support strategic planning, budget development and management, and policy formulation related to investigations.
- Supervise and manage the Gaming Integrity Team.
- Manages Insider Threat program and personnel.
- Collaborate with other Leagues, local/state/federal agencies, and the gaming industry on effective measures to preserve gaming integrity.
- Oversee data recovery operations to extract artifacts of evidentiary value.
- Coordinate and manage the recovery and examination of data from computers and other electronic storage devices in support of internal investigations, potential criminal matters, and e-discovery efforts.
- Provide detailed reporting, in verbal and written formats, to support investigators and key decision makers.
- Serve as a subject matter expert relative to digital forensic investigation, providing consultation to management when necessary.
- Coordinate, supervise and manage detailed and complex investigations involving alleged impropriety or criminal conduct by League and Club personnel and review reports.
- Liaise with other League and Club departments such as Compliance, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and Legal on sensitive issues, or other matters of importance.
- Contribute and support various steering committees.
- Other department administration, as assigned by Chief Security Officer.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in criminal justice or other relevant field, or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience in conducting and completing investigations involving cyber and technology.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting complex and varied criminal investigations to include, but not limited to financial crimes, crimes of violence, gambling offenses, weapons offenses and drug and alcohol-related offenses.
- Expertise in both civil and criminal judicial processes, to include rules of evidence, prosecutorial determinations, court proceedings and civil lawsuits.
- Strong background in intelligence gathering, to include familiarity and use of online resources, subscription services and public record checks.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds and variety of levels inside and outside of the organization.
- Clear concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain an elevated level of confidentiality in matters of all types, both internal and those affecting Clubs and partners.
- Familiarity with current cell phone imaging and analytical techniques, encryption, social media, and communication methodologies.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of sports betting and gaming operations.
- Strong and proven experience with analytics and reporting.
- Expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work long hours, nights/weekends, and some holidays, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of management experience in the private sector, combined with a minimum of 5 years of law enforcement management experience.
- Gaming industry investigation or risk mitigation experience.
- Special event security planning.
- Digital forensics and/or corporate investigations industry certifications.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Supervision of staff across multiple disciplines, to include contractors and other security team members.
Physical Demands:
- Role requires long periods of standing, climbing stairs and walking in connection with on-scene investigations.
Travel:
- National and international travel to club offices and events, or other assignments; approximately 40% travel.
Terms/Expected Hours of Work:
- This position may require hours to be worked outside of the normal business day and on weekends.
