Manager, Player Engagement

The NFL is hiring a Player Engagement Manager.  The Player Engagement Manager serves as a key contributor in supporting current players, Legends, and club Heads of Player Engagement (HPEs) across the five Player Engagement pillars: Continuing Education, Financial Empowerment, Personal Development, Professional Development, and Head of Player Engagement Development. This role focuses primarily on Personal and Professional Development, delivering high-impact programming, resources, and support systems that enhance player wellbeing and prepare players for life during and after football.

The Manager builds trusted relationships throughout the NFL ecosystem, provides hands‑on assistance to clubs, manages leaguewide initiatives, and ensures alignment with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements for player education. The position may supervise a consultant, a summer intern and/or a rotational analyst.

Responsibilities:

Professional Development

  • Lead strategy, planning, and execution of Professional Development programming and events
  • Advise clubs on selecting qualified presenters, experts, and development resources
  • Leverage external partnerships to secure job shadows, internships, and career exposure opportunities for players and Legends
  • Design and propose innovative concepts and marketing materials to advance the vision of the Professional Development pillar

Personal Development

  • Develop tools and resources to support players’ life skills (e.g., fatherhood, parenting, healthy relationships)
  • Support players in their transition to life after football through customized resources and programming
  • Lead strategy on programming and resources for players on the Injured Reserve List

Club Support

  • Serve as primary liaison for a designated group of club HPEs (8), providing tailored support based on each club’s structure, culture, and needs
  • Foster and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with HPEs through consistent communication, site visits, and collaborative planning
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of all Player Engagement services, workshops, resources, and player benefits
  • Maintain a working understanding of all five PE pillars to provide cross-pillar guidance as needed

Player & Family Engagement

  • Conduct regular team visits, attend club meetings, and communicate directly with players to remain informed and accessible
  • Recruit players and Legends for participation in Player Engagement programs and league initiatives
  • Engage with players’ support networks—including significant others, parents, and agents—to reinforce player goals and ensure continuity of care

Leaguewide Operations & Events

  • Provide on‑site administrative support during major NFL events (e.g., Combine, Draft, Super Bowl)
  • Collaborate with Legends Community, The Player Care Foundation, The Trust, NFL Alumni, and other partners to maintain continuity of support for players and Legends

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5-7+ years of relevant experience in professional sports, entertainment, player services, collegiate athletics, and/or NFL playing experience

  • Ability to solve complex problems and implement effective strategies

Travel:

Approximately 30% travel to clubs, NFL events, and player programs.

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:

NFL employees are required to work minimum of 40 hours per week in the office.

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

$85,000 - $105,000 USD
