Seasonal RedZone Segment Producer

The NFL Media Group located in Inglewood, CA is looking for a seasonal, part-time NFL RedZone Segment Producer. This position will report to the Coordinating Producer for NFL RedZone.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees EVS operators in the tape room during live NFL RedZone production, serving as a tape/live producer of the games that are assigned
  • Responsible for spotting key plays, interesting storylines during a full slate of NFL games
  • Take direction from show Producers to enhance content on NFL RedZone
  • Guides edit team through edits of highlights, and sound needed during the day for NFL RedZone
  • Coordinates with the on-air staff to write accurate and informative content as it relates to the segment
  • Uses a high level of sports knowledge and news judgment to determine the agenda, concepts, and content of the assigned games within NFL RedZone
  • Assign and give creative and editorial notes for high end element production
  • Supervise both short-form & long-form highlight production
  • Copy-edit scripts
  • Supervise, train, and mentor Associate Producers & Production Assistants
  • Produce sound for fill segments during NFL RedZone
  • Explain edit instructions in detail
  • Must bring creative statistical ideas to the NFL RedZone preshow meeting on Sunday mornings to help team enhance the show for the viewer
  • Bring to life statical information given in preshow editorial meeting when overseeing the live games that are assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of progressively complex studio or related production experience
  • Good production skills related to sporting events and graphics
  • A strong knowledge of live television production dynamics and working knowledge of the equipment and technologies in EVS, the control room and edit bays
  • Ability to carry out a broad range of assignments that range from highlight supervising to segment producing to on-air graphics with little or no preparation time in between
  • Have a good knowledge of the NFL and sports history
  • Supervisory experience with good leadership skills
  • Good writing and copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of television graphics and VizRT graphics
  • Technical knowledge required - must have knowledge of what "works" on television
  • Specific knowledge of television production techniques used in a EVS tape room as well as the control room

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Advanced understanding of linear editing and on-air graphics systems

  • Must have strong editorial skills and NFL knowledge to know what video and soundbites are best to edit
  • Must be able to respond quickly on short deadlines
  • Adhere to established production schedule to meet deadlines
  • A team-first attitude is mandatory

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Sunday availability from 7:30am - 4:30pm
  • Overtime may be required on any given NFL RedZone Sunday
  • Seasonal employment up to 7 months

Salary / Pay Range
